Job Description:
The Role
We are seeking a self-motivated individual with basic accounting knowledge, time management skills, ability to prioritize and multi-task in addition to aspiring to acquire knowledge in back-office operations. The Brokerage Operations Representative will be expected to deliver extraordinary service to internal and external (correspondents, service teams, IWS, Capital Markets and contra parties) clients by settling their transactions timely and accurately while adhering to policies, procedures, and regulatory guidelines. The associate will use internal and external systems as well as partner with Dividends, Corporate Actions, International Settlements, Purchase & Sales, Treasury and NF Risk to settle Delivery vs. Payment/Receive vs. Payment/Prime Broker & Executing Broker transactions. Additional responsibilities also include:
- Review and process exceptions resulting from mismatched trades, corporation action events and/or amendments made to settled or future settlement trades.
- Build and maintain relationships with contra party Prime and Executing Brokers to satisfy regulatory paperwork requirement for institutional customers.
The Expertise and Skills You Bring
- College degree preferred; 2-4 years of relevant settlement experience or 3-5 years of brokerage experience
- Ability to identify and process risk related transactions and ensure escalation if appropriate
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to reconcile and balance various settlement accounts
- Knowledge of DTC
- Working knowledge of industry regulations and with firm policies and procedures
- Attention to details while being efficient and effective (time management)
- Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external business units
- Highly motivated with the ability to multi-task and complete assigned tasks in a timely and accurate manner
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment
- Strong knowledge of internal systems and PC applications (especially with Excel)
The Team
As part of the OSG organization the Institutional team is responsible for providing support to Institutional clients both internal and external. We process trade exceptions and provide continual communication with clients till a resolution is achieved. Being able to work independently as well as part of a group is essential to maintaining a cohesive team so we can ensure the timely and accurate settlement of DVP/RVP transactions, all while staying within regulatory guidelines.
