Position Description:

Develops and designs performance characterization strategies for financial applications. Gathers and compares quantitative data using performance benchmarking tools - LoadRunner, CloudTest, and JMeter. Monitors and analyzes performance metrics and application logs. Builds automation pipelines using Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) frameworks. Builds large-scale end-to-end systems with application server technologies - Tomcat, Node, and Apache.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Identifies performance bottlenecks and makes tuning recommendations.
  • Triages defects with development partners and project management teams.
  • Ensures timely escalation of critical issues to development, project, and performance engineering teams.
  • Prepares and communicates performance results to management.
  • Develops original and creative technical solutions to support on-going development efforts.
  • Designs applications or subsystems on major projects involving multiple platforms and supporting a range of divisional initiatives.
  • Supports and performs all phases of testing leading to implementation.
  • Analyzes information to determine, recommend, and plan computer software specifications on major projects and proposes modifications and improvements based on user need.
  • Develops software system testing and validation procedures, programming, and documentation.

Education and Experience:

No degree and five (5) years of experience as a Senior Performance Engineer (or related occupation) performing software performance engineering on high volume, online financial systems in a DevOps environment.

Bachelor's degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and three (3) years of experience as a Senior Performance Engineer (or related occupation)performing software performance engineering on high volume, online financial systems in a DevOps environment.

Or, alternatively, Master's degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and one (1) year of experience as a Senior Performance Engineer (or related occupation) performing software performance engineering on high volume, online financial systems in a DevOps environment.

Skills and Knowledge:

Candidate must also possess:

  • Demonstrated Expertise ("DE") performing software performance benchmarking and performance engineering of online financial Web applications, APIs, and Mobile transactions according to DevOps engineering practices, using performance benchmarking tools - Akamai CloudTest, LoadRunner, and JMeter; and configuring Continuous Integration/Continuous Development (CI/CD) and test automation, using Jenkins, Sonar, Ant, Maven, Artifactory, and Amazon Web Services (AWS).
  • DE analyzing and monitoring hardware system performance metrics - CPU/memory, heap, and Garbage Collections (GC) - across Apache, NGINX, Java, and Node.js software platforms; instrumenting and monitoring operating systems - Linux and Windows - using Linux console and monitoring tools - Splunk, Datadog, and IBM ISA; and analyzing performance across applications hosted on external Cloud solution providers - AWS - using AWS Console and CloudWatch.
  • DE researching performance bottlenecks to provide tuning recommendations using APM tools - Dynatrace, NewRelic, and DataDog APM; and performing capacity planning to advocate CPU sizing, memory, and process configuration management, using APM tools.
  • DE forecasting and coordinating work intake across Scrum teams and orchestrating the testing of financial software products, using Jira; and providing performance tool (CloudTest and Jenkins) trainings.

Salary: $154,482.00 - $164,482.00/year.
