Senior Product Development Engineer
Eaton's IS AER ITD division is currently seeking a Senior Product Development Engineer.
What you'll do:
Position Overview:
The Senior Product Development Engineer is responsible for leading execution of New Product Introduction program (NPI), Sustaining Engineering, and Internal Research and Development (IR&D) program activities within the Tijuana, Mexico Interconnect Technologies Division facility. This role will partner with the Tijuana Manufacturing Engineering and Quality Engineering teams to ensure all design considerations have been addressed, and risks mitigated, in the development and production of engineered products. This individual will work closely with the US and Indian based design engineering team, serving as the onsite design engineering lead across all value streams and Integrated Product Teams (IPT's).
Essential Responsibilities:
• For NPI Programs:
o Serve as the onsite lead for all engineering development programs.
o Verify manufacturing methods are appropriate and controlled through verification and validation testing (DFMEA/PFMEA, Process Validation Testing, Product Testing).
o Verify that inspection methods are appropriate and controlled through verification and validation testing (Gauge R&R/MSA, DFMEA/PFMEA).
o Serve as point of contact for design engineering on all non-conforming material, and lead MRB design engineering activities for Tijuana, liaising with US and India-based design engineering leads/specialists/chief engineers.
o Support completion of all engineering program tasks, including but not limited to: Modeling and drafting, tooling and fixturing design and development, writing reports, designing and executing test plans/procedures, authoring or reviewing Engineering Coordination Memos (ECM's), Engineering Change Orders (ECO's), generating Bills of Materials (BOM's), customer and supplier facility visits, and design reviews with Eaton and/or customer Chief Engineers (SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR).
• For Sustaining Engineering:
o Serve as the onsite lead for all sustaining engineering activities.
o Support 8D failure investigations on site, representing design engineering.
o Where changes are being made, verify manufacturing methods are appropriate and controlled through verification and validation testing (DFMEA/PFMEA, Process Validation Testing, Product Testing).
o Where changes are being made, verify that inspection methods are appropriate and controlled through verification and validation testing (Gauge R&R/MSA, DFMEA/PFMEA).
o Serve as point of contact for design engineering on all non-conforming material, and lead MRB design engineering activities for Tijuana, liaising with US and India-based design engineering leads/specialists/chief engineers.
o Support completion of all sustaining engineering tasks, including but not limited to: Modeling and drafting, tooling and fixturing design and development, writing reports, designing and executing test plans/procedures, authoring or reviewing Engineering Coordination Memos (ECM's), Engineering Change Orders (ECO's), generating Bills of Materials (BOM's), customer and supplier facility visits, technical reviews with Eaton and customer Chief Engineers, and material obsolescence/component obsolescence recovery.
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Mechatronics, Chemical, Materials Engineering or a related field from an accredited institution.
• Minimum 7 years' experience working in an Aerospace manufacturing facility.
• Direct experience in the manufacture and/or inspection of machined, molded, plated, stamped, and assembled Aerospace products.
• Experience modeling and drafting in CAD software.
• Expertise in ASME Y14.5 / Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) methods.
• Experience analyzing and reporting on complex data to a technical audience.

• Experience as a member of an Integrated Product Team (IPT).
• Experience in root cause and corrective action investigations (RCCA).
Preferred Qualifications:
• 15 years of progressive experience in the Aerospace industry
• Masters degree in Engineering or a related field from an accredited institution.
• Expertise in the use of Solidworks CAD software.
• Expertise in the use of Enovia PLM software.
• Experience supporting or leading 8D investigations (RCCA).
• Knowledge of assembly operations, gauging, and quality assurance systems (ISO 9001, AS9100).
• Design for Six Sigma Greenbelt or Blackbelt
• Lean Six Sigma Greenbelt
• Experience leading Material Review Board meetings, and supporting design engineers in functional disposition of product.
• Experience leading process improvements in an Aerospace facility to improve speed, quality, or to reduce cost.
Additional Information:
• Limited travel may be required (< 10%)
