Power Engineering Senior Specialist
Eaton's Circuit Protection Division is currently seeking a Power Engineering Senior Specialist. This is a hybrid position (3 days on-site, 2 days remote per week) based at our Moon Township, PA location. Relocation assistance will be provided to candidates currently residing within the US/PR.
The expected annual salary range for this role is $137000 - $201000 a year.

What you'll do:
We are seeking an innovative problem-solver to develop and design circuit protection and its selective coordination topologies for low voltage and medium voltage direct-current (DC) power distribution systems for Eaton's Protection, Control and Solutions business. In addition, you will have the opportunity to work with the Advanced Technology team to develop ultra-fast switching systems and lead engineering sample testing for DC circuit protection. You will work with a team of dedicated engineers and experience the excitement of bringing new products to life from design concept through to production launch.
The primary function is to deliver DC protection and selectivity topologies for power electronics-based circuit protection products. This includes creating functionality related to hardware/firmware drivers, protection, metering, communication, and user interface.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development of top-level circuit protection architecture and functional requirements for DC power systems
- Leverage model-based design to define selective coordination of protection1
- Provide technical design support and direction to product design engineers
- Coordinate validation efforts with end-to-end DC system team
- Contribute to ultra-fast switching system development, design, prototyping and testing
- Build and maintain subject matter expertise for circuit protection and coordination in DC power distribution systems
- Lead formal design and quality reviews
- Lead and coordinate engineering sample test plan development and related tests
- Provide domain expertise to product support personnel to solve field issues
- Perform and contribute to technical research and investigations
- Collaborate with teams from Corporate Research & Technology, Electrical Sector Center of Excellence, and external technology resources (National Labs and Universities) for technology and product innovation
- Generate value added intellectual property

- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Applied Physics from an accredited institution
- Minimum of 10 years of experience developing circuit protection products for both LV and MV applications

Preferred Qualifications:
- PhD in Electrical Engineering or Applied Physics from an accredited institution
- Experience with power systems
- Experience with LV, MV or HV circuit breakers
- Experienced in arc or vacuum arc management
- Experience working in diverse cultural situations with global customers and team members
- Experience with new product development phase-gate processes
- Experience with DFSS tools
- Experience with model-based design (utilizing MATLAB and Simulink)
