Master Technician - Engineering

Eaton's Assemblies and Residential Solutions business is currently seeking a Master Technician - Engineering. This role is located out of Moon Township, PA.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $63,749 - $93,499 a year.

Under little supervision, performs electronic, electrical and mechanical testing on engineering prototypes and production samples under the direction of the project engineer. Documents test plans, records data, and provides detailed written test reports. Performs functions as necessary to support all product development and maintenance activities including assembly.

What you'll do:

  • Ability to analyze each assigned project with the project engineer to reach an understanding of the test program to be followed, organize and take responsibility for its execution, and record and report the results.
  • Ability to build, troubleshoot, modify, and repair printed circuit boards and other electronic sub-assemblies or components
  • Ability to look at drawings and assemble new products while working with lead engineers and apply knowledge to develop assembly procedures
  • Objectively evaluate test results during the testing and reporting phases and clearly communicate conclusions to the project engineer either verbally or in writing.
  • Proactively provides recommendations, based on test results and observations, to improve product function or integrity throughout the development stage.
  • Assists in the creation of tests and test fixtures. Designs and constructs test fixtures as required to perform necessary functional and environmental tests.
  • Establishes a working knowledge of standard test procedures. Fully understands the capabilities, use, and care of available equipment
  • Maintains an understanding of new technologies as appropriate for future testing programs. Researches and recommends new test equipment to improve lab functional capabilities.
  • Able to lead, direct, coordinate, and bring successful closure to distinct assignments. Uses invention, imagination, creativity, and resourcefulness during the course of assigned work.
  • Guides and shares knowledge with other technicians as necessary to improve technician pool's core knowledge and capabilities.
  • Plans and coordinates purchasing through installation of new equipment infrastructure for development test labs based on test requirements or gaps in testing capabilities
  • Maintains equipment by coordinating or driving repairs or calibration

Responsibilities related to Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS):

  • Execute 100% of monthly safety inspection, in coordination with the M.E.S.H. Management of Environment, Safety, Security, and Health Policies.
  • Complete all EHS Environment, Health, and Safety training assigned
  • Leads M.E.S.H Elements for assigned area or category

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • An Associate Degree in Electronic, Electrical, or Mechanical Technology from an accredited institution of higher learning is required
  • Minimum of five (5) years of related technical experience.
  • Experience with Electronic, mechanical, electro-mechanical, and software
  • No relocation benefit is bring offered. Candidates must reside within 50 miles of Moon Township to be considered. Active Duty Military is exempt from this geographical limitation

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Detailed experience in use of computer for test documentation and analysis
  • Experience with programming to develop automated instrument control and data acquisition programs.

Skills:

  • Critical thinking
  • Ability to safely use basic, advanced, and specialized machinist tools
  • Working knowledge of shop equipment maintenance procedures
  • Working knowledge of equipment testing procedures
  • Interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional team members to problem solve

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • Aptitude in the use of hand tools for mechanical assembly and electrical wiring of test apparatus and devices to be tested.
  • Unaccompanied travel to outside labs, customer sites, or external manufacturing sites, including offshore sites, may occasionally be required
