Lead Test Engineering Technician
Eaton's IS AER FMC division is currently seeking a Lead Test Engineering Technician. Producing electro-mechanical actuation components since 1963, our Grand Rapids facility has just under 200 employees. It's a leading supplier of secondary flight control systems and components for commercial and business aircraft OEMs.
This role does require travel, typically requiring 1-2 day trips, but up to a full week at a time, at least 2 times per year. Travel would consist of 10% of the role throughout the year.
The expected annual salary range for this role is $53253.0 - $78104.4 a year.

What You'll Do
The Lead Test Engineering Technician will support build, setup, and execution of development testing and qualification testing for Eaton Grand Rapids Electromechanical Actuation Products. Eaton Grand Rapids actuation products include motor controllers, motors, electrical boards, gears, ball screws, no-back mechanisms, clutches, brakes, housings, electronic enclosures, bearings, pins, screws, and other related components.

Job Responsibilities
- Maintain engineering lab and equipment.
- Create, wire, solder, and assemble test control panels per schematic and drawing definition.
- Troubleshoot equipment for testing of electro-mechanical actuator during development, qualification, and production phases.
- Create test setups and execute per defined plans and procedures. Testing includes mechanical, electrical, and environmental testing.
- Conduct testing per DO-160 and MIL-STD-810 standards. Responsible for instrumenting, modifying, conducting tests, or troubleshooting on circuit boards.
- Utilize different types of test equipment such as function generators, oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, and power supplies.
- Troubleshoot an electrical issue without the use of schematics or clear information.
- Build and repair electro-mechanical actuators as required to support new product development.
- Comply with Eaton's high expectations for a safe work environment.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree in an engineering related field AND minimum 3 years of applicable experience;
- OR minimum of (7) seven years' of experience in repair, maintenance, or electronics repair and troubleshooting
- Relocation is not offered. Must currently reside within a 50 mile radius of Grand Rapids, MI. Active Duty military are exempt from the geographical requirement
- This position requires access to export-controlled information. To conform to U.S. Government export regulations applicable to that information, applicant must be a U.S. person, defined as a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (green card holder), (iii) refugee under 8 U.S.C. 1157, or (iv) asylee under 8 U.S.C. 1158.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship, now and in the future
- Soldering capabilities
- Experience executing test plans and procedures
Preferred Qualifications:
- Electronics repair and troubleshooting
- Familiar with lab test equipment and measurement devices
Position Criteria:
- Strong electrical and mechanical aptitude demonstrated through work experience
- Ability to travel 10% of the time; with travel ranging from 1-2 days, to week long trips for tests
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to manage time and multiple tasks
- Good organizational skills both written and verbal
- Ability to communicate effectively with Engineers.
- Has competency using computer and MS Office Suite programs
