Internship: Continuous Improvement (4-month) - Edmonton, AB, Canada

What you'll do:

Edmonton Power Center (EPC), Eaton Electrical is seeking an Intern - Continuous Improvement to join our team for a 4-month term. This position is based at our Edmonton, AB facility.

The hourly range for this role is $20-$25 per hour. Please note the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Primary Function:

Reporting to the CI Manager, this position will work across the manufacturing facility to assist with Lean initiatives related to cost savings, 5S+, material stocking levels, process flow, standard work, root-cause analysis etc. to optimize efficiency using ECIS (EATON Continuous Improvement System) tools.

Essential Functions:

• Assist in project to improve the material flow and 5S+.
• Participate in Kaizens.
• Creating standard work to standardize processes.
• Write, review and revise operation sheets, prepare or direct preparation of time/motion studies.
• Designing/procuring jigs and equipment to aid production.
• Confer with engineering personnel on design changes.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

• Must have recently graduated or be currently enrolled in a college diploma or university degree program in Engineering, Business, or any computer-related course).
• Legally authorized to work in Canada without company sponsorship now or in the future.
• This position does not offer relocation. Candidates must reside within 120 km of Edmonton, AB to be considered.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Intermediate/advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Power BI, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Willing to work with shop floor employees for engagement and project implementation
• Prior internship or co-op experience.

• Demonstrated ability to work safely on multiple projects.
• Good analytical/problem-solving, mathematical skills and troubleshooting ability.
• Demonstrated leadership experience within campus and/or the community.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
