Embedded Firmware Specialist
Eaton's Electrical Sector - Power Components Division is seeking an Embedded Firmware Specialist to join our Embedded Systems group. This position is based out of our Moon Township, PA location (suburb of Pittsburgh) and offers a hybrid working schedule. Relocation assistance is available to candidates currently residing in the US.
As an embedded firmware specialist, you will work with global engineering teams to architect, design and develop the firmware for our next generation control and monitoring systems integrated with Eaton's Circuit Breaker product offerings. Responsibilities include leading and actively contributing to firmware engineering activities from initial concept through product launch, supporting the resolution of production, product quality, customer application issues and actively contributing to innovation, continuous improvement initiatives. This is a great opportunity to shape the next generation platform deploying advanced technologies and modern development methodologies to deliver global products with differentiating features for Eaton's Circuit Breaker products.
This role will have firmware architecture, design leadership responsibility and interfaces with product line marketing, plant manufacturing, quality personnel, and customers in addition to closely collaborating with other engineering functions.
The expected annual salary range for this role is $109000 - $159000 a year.

What you'll do:
- Work with product marketing and system engineering teams to develop product specifications detailing functional, interface requirements to drive firmware development.
- Design and develop robust embedded architectures aligned with division's strategic goals and digital enablement initiatives
- Collaborate within and across engineering function to enable effective and efficient new product development
- Champion cutting edge development practices and tools deployment tailored for embedded platforms driving adoption for efficiency, reusability
- Define and lead prototype activities enabling concept finalization, technology selection inline with product / technology roadmap
- Mentor the firmware engineers across globe and drive standard development practices with continuous improvement mindset
- Address product quality, customer and production issues in a timely manner, collaborating with other functional groups as necessary

Qualifications:
Basic (required) Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in electrical or computer engineering from an accredited institution
- Five (5) years of experience designing and developing embedded systems from initiation to launch and post production support
- Five (5) years of hands-on experience in embedded software development including multi controller systems (C/C++, RTOS), low-level hardware interfaces (ADC, PWM, UART, SPI, I2C), communication protocols (Modbus, CAN, Ethernet, MQTT), safety critical applications (UL, IEC)

Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree from an accredited institution, prefer Electrical or Computer Engineering
- Knowledge of circuit breaker technology and electrical protection principles
- Experience with Zephyr RTOS
- Proficiency in Model Based Design, Agile development methodologoes, CI/CT, automated testing tools
- Experience with IEC 61850, cybersecurity standards, and functional safety.
- Background in power electronics controls
- Experience investigating, resolving complex system issues, interfacing with customers

- Capable of providing technical leadership to team members across different sites with cultural diversity
- Strong cross functional collaboration driving architecture and design meeting customer requirements and business schedules
- Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, strong problem-solving and analytical skills
