What you'll do

As a Senior Consultant in the Legal Management Consulting practice group, you will support advisory engagements for law departments and law firms on strategic transformation initiatives. You will work with managers and senior team members to diagnose client challenges, develop recommendations, and support implementation of operating models, organizational structures, technology strategies, and AI capabilities. You will conduct research and analysis, draft strategy documents and deliverables, facilitate client discussions and working sessions, and contribute to project delivery with strong technical and analytical skills. Your focus will be helping clients optimize their legal function's performance and strategic value. As a part of the practice, you will proactively contribute to continuous improvement in how we serve clients, develop your knowledge and skills in legal transformation and advisory work.

Responsibilities include

  • Support diagnostic work and develop strategic recommendations on legal operating models, organizational design, technology strategy, and process optimization for client law departments and law firms
  • Draft strategy documents, business cases, recommendations, and other project deliverables with oversight from managers and senior team members
  • Support client engagement management, including facilitating workshops, supporting client meetings, and coordinating project logistics and communications
  • Analyze legal spend, legal operations benchmarking data, and organizational effectiveness to support client strategy development
  • Support development of proposals and strategy documents for new client engagements
  • Conduct technology research and assessment to support legal technology and AI strategy recommendations
  • Contribute research and insights on legal operations best practices, emerging technologies, and industry trends
  • Support project management activities including workplans, tracking, status reporting, and coordination with team members
  • Identify and implement process improvements within engagements
  • Contribute to practice development activities and thought leadership

The Team

Deloitte's Legal Business Services (LBS) practice partners with law departments and law firms to optimize their legal functions through advisory, strategy, and implementation support. The Legal Management Consulting sub-practice within LBS focuses specifically on legal transformation, bringing together consultants with deep experience in legal management consulting, law department operations, law firm practice services, and legal industry trends. Our multi-disciplinary approach combines strategic advisory, organizational design, technology strategy, and operational excellence to help clients navigate complex legal function transformations and build capabilities for the future.

Qualifications

Required

  • Ability to perform job responsibilities within a hybrid work model that requires US Tax professionals to co-located in person 2-3 days per week
  • Bachelor's degree in law, tax, finance, business or related field
  • 3+ years of relevant consulting, law department operations, law firm management, or legal services industry experience
  • Experience in advisory roles, strategy development, organizational design, or business transformation work
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 suite, particularly PowerPoint for client presentations and analysis
  • Working knowledge of AI tools and applications, including Claude
  • Knowledge of legal technology platforms and their applications
  • Limited immigration sponsorship may be available
  • Ability to travel 50%, on average based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve
  • One of the following active accreditations obtained:
    • Licensed CPA in state of practice/primary office if eligible to sit for the CPA
    • If not CPA eligible:
      • Licensed Attorney (or foreign equivalent)
      • Advanced degree in the Legal profession or a relevant industry certification. Examples of advanced degrees in the Legal profession include: Licensed Attorney, Juris Doctor, or Master of Laws / LLM. (Requiring advance approval from NSLL and National Tax Talent prior to pursuing any certification)
      • Enrolled Agent
      • PMP (Project Management Certification)
      • Contract & Commercial Management (CCM) Certification Program
      • Certified Financial Analyst (CFA)
      • PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (Project Management Institute-ACP)
      • Certified Change Management Professional (CCMP)
      • Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP)
      • Procurement/Legal Procurement or SAS® Certified Data Scientist.
      • Paralegal Certification with a 4-year degree
      • Other Technical Certifications:
        • Six Sigma (Black Belt and Green Belt)
        • Management Professional (CCMP) or SAS® Certified Data Scientist
        • DocuSign (Workflow Manager, E-signature, CLM, etc.)
        • iCertis
        • Thomson Reuters (Legal Tracker, High Q, or Contract Express)

Preferred

  • Project management and strong client service skills
  • Experience working with or within law departments or law firms

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $100,350 to $205,000.

You may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
