Could you be our next Senior Director, TA Portfolio Delivery Lead? The job is located in the King of Prussia, PA or Zurich, Switzerland office. This is a hybrid position. You will report to the Executive Director.
Based on Therapeutic area, Global role focuses on all elements, both strategic and operational, associated with R&D Program Management. Will oversee (1) Research Project Management, (2) Development Planning & Project Management (3) TA Operations, (4) Functional Project Management for the respective therapeutic area.
Responsibilities:
R&D Program Management
- You will provide Program Management within the portfolio and across geographies, including New Product Development and Life Cycle Management
- Lead identification of project acceleration and risk management options, while ensuring solutions are flexible to support innovation
- Provide strategic leadership and approaches for accelerated development planning and delivery of R&D portfolio
- Be an important member of the POE LT to ensure success of the group and create a culture of connectivity, delivery, empowerment and transformation
- Provide guidance and direction to the Research and Development Project Management staff to ensure Project Management practices and methodologies are applied to all R&D projects within our portfolio
TA Operations
- Run "TA operations", supporting the TA Co-Leads and the TA Leadership Team (TALT) in a designated TA ensuring the smooth running of the TA following PD&C framework, while overseeing TA projects to maximally deliver the value TALT intended
- Ensure seamless interactions between TALT and critical partners to the TA, and the efficient functioning of the matrix within the TA
- Coordinate framework for developing TA processes to ensure product strategy plans align with the TA strategy
- Co-ordinates the TA strategic planning process ensuring that the outcome of planning processes are integrated, documented and have appropriate approvals
- Support R&D and Commercial NPO due diligence activities
- Work with Portfolio Management Function to ensure TA portfolio information is integrated into portfolio plans and analysis to support TA portfolio investment management and the development of TA priorities
- Deliver identified plans in the TA that extend across the PD&C framework
- Lead TA review of projects in portfolio including timelines, cost and resources
- On behalf of the TALT/co-leads all relevant messages and Q&As for internal and external briefings
- In partnership with the co-leads, provides guidance to PSTs and departments to ensure that long-term product forecast meets the priorities of the TA.
Talent/Management Responsibilities & Accountabilities
- Lead a global organization with a set of high-complexity goals and interfaces
- Oversee sub-functions, with individual objectives
- Requires oversight of a global, multilevel function with a leadership team comprised of director/senior director levels
- Total of ~10--20 staff members located in Europe, US and Australia
- Establish priorities, competency framework and performance expectations designed to support and develop talent to excel and grow professionally
Education & Requirements:
- 12+ years of experience in digital transformation, PMO, or portfolio management within R&D, biotech, or pharma
- Experience managing digital programs or portfolios.
- Expertise in managing cross-functional projects and complex program portfolios
- Operational planning skills, with knowledge of portfolio management tools (e.g., Planview, Smartsheet, Jira)
- Understanding of R&D processes and digital strategy trends in the life sciences sector
- Experience in digital architecture strategy, solution design, or enterprise architecture within R&D, with understanding of integration patterns, data flows, and platform scalability
- Experience with vendor and external partner governance
