Senior CI Specialist
Position Purpose:
The Senior CI Specialist is responsible for the site-specific advancement of the CSL Operating System (COS) and the implementation of Continuous Improvement initiatives at the Bern site. The role supports Value Stream Packaging/Visual Inspection through data-driven analysis, structured problem-solving methodologies, KPI-based performance management, and the establishment of sustainable process improvements across GMP-relevant workflows.
The role holder acts as SME for CI methodology, promotes an Operational Excellence culture at the site, and ensures that improvement initiatives are implemented in alignment with global CSL standards and local regulatory requirements.
Reporting Relationships:
Reports to: Sigrid Van Dyck - Senior Director, Head of Value Stream Packaging
Interfaces: Value Streams, QA, Planning, Training, Engineering, Supply Chain, Global CI
Functional Integration: Key SME for CI methodology at the Bern site
Direct Reports: None (functional guidance possible)
Responsibilities:
Strategic CI Responsibility
- Development, management, and execution of CI roadmaps for all value streams including Operational Service at the Bern site
- Identification of improvement potentials to strengthen compliance, efficiency, and process stability
- Close alignment with the Site Lead Operational Service and Value Stream Leads to strategically embed CI initiatives in the site plan
KPI and Performance Management
- Establishment, further development, and monitoring of relevant performance KPIs (e.g. RFT, Deviation KPIs, BRR KPIs, Training KPIs, OEE-related metrics)
- Execution of trend analyses and derivation of measures for continuous improvement
- Ensuring a standardized dashboard in alignment with global CSL guidelines
Lean & Six Sigma Expertise
- Application and training of recognized tools (5Why, Fishbone, DMAIC, SMED, SIPOC, Kaizen workshops)
- Facilitation of problem-solving workshops and technical support for local deviation and CAPA processes
- Coaching of managers and employees on Lean Thinking, Standardization & Visual Management
Process Optimization & Digitalization
- Analysis of end-to-end processes in close collaboration with Value Streams, Operational Service, M2U, QA, QC and Supply Chain
- Initiation and management of projects for process harmonization, document system optimization, and improvement of digital workflows (e.g. SAP, MES, TrackWise data quality)
- Support of global CI programs and cross-site harmonization topics
Change & Stakeholder Management
- Promotion of a CI culture at the Bern site through targeted communication, workshops, and coaching
- Close collaboration with QA, Manufacturing, Planning, Training & Process Teams to sustainably embed improvements
- Ensuring change readiness in the context of new processes, standards, and tools
Qualifications:
Education
- Bachelor's degree or higher in a natural science, engineering, or business discipline, or extensive relevant professional experience in a GMP environment

Experience
- Minimum 3-5 years of professional experience in CI, Operational Excellence, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, or Quality
- Solid experience in GMP-regulated production environments (e.g. pharma, biotech)
- Proven experience in CI project management and KPI-driven performance management
Competencies
- Strong proficiency in Lean, Six Sigma (Green/Black Belt desirable)
- Strong analytical skills, confident handling of data analysis tools and KPI systems
- Excellent facilitation, coaching, and communication skills
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive change sustainably
- Business-fluent in German and English
Additional Requirements
- Willingness to conduct workshops in the shopfloor environment (Gemba)
- Ability to present complex matters in a clear and audience-appropriate manner
- High level of initiative, results orientation, and proactive stakeholder management
