Summary:
The Process Control Supervisor analyzes and suggests ways to improve operations for the entire - raw materials to finish milling - cement manufacturing process. This position monitors, supervises, and evaluates the performance of hourly employees working directly in the production process. The position inspects equipment and process system breakdowns, determines repairs needed, and writes work orders. The Process Control Supervisor coordinates and supervises equipment repairs and preventative maintenance performed by maintenance personnel.
What you'll be contributing:
- Promote and follow all plant safety guidelines.
- Demonstrates pyro-processing expertise in performing regular responsibilities
- Participates in the training of the control room operators on the proper ways of using plant equipment.
- Works closely with shift process teams to ensure mills and pyro lines are consistently operated at peak efficiency.
- Monitors and develops frontline process employees routine inspection program and task training
- Communicate job performance to employees.
- Implements changes for optimal operating conditions in terms of fuel efficiency, electrical efficiency and production rate in coordination with the process engineer.
- Revises and maintains the plant production report
- Collaborates with Team Members from prior and following shifts regarding the status of production operations, problems, and adjustments being made to meet production standards and objectives.
- Monitors inventory of materials in the plant daily and that documentation is provided accordingly.
- Coordinates efforts with other departments such as maintenance, shipping, and quarry.
- Supervises contractors working on projects during shifts.
- Coordinates supervision for plant operations during the night and weekend shifts. This can include quarry, production, maintenance, electrical, and shipping.
- Performs relief duties for the production supervisor and production superintendent as specified by plant management.
- Additional duties as assigned by supervisor.
To succeed in this position, you will need:
- High School Degree or GED is required
- Vocational/Technical degree is preferred in production, process control, or similar field
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a production supervisor role
- 2 years of experience as a control room operator or process engineer in the cement industry is preferred
- Uses independent judgment in performing responsibilities
- Works from general policies and objectives
- Refers to supervisor when clarification or interpretation of organizational policy is in question
- Exercises direct or indirect supervision over hourly production employees
- May also supervise directly and indirectly personnel working on the off shifts
- Displays regular and prompt attendance
- Consistently works in a safe and non-violent manner
- Proficient in English written, verbal communication, and listening skills
- Ability to read, write, and understand warning labels, instructions, signs, etc.
- Ability to lead/manage others
- Ability to efficiently perform, organize and prioritize work independently
- Ability to make decisions and to exercise sound judgment in arriving at a conclusion
- Knowledge of kiln and mill operations, mobile equipment, machinery functions, and production process control
- Knowledge of other plant departments such as shipping, maintenance, quarry, and engineering
- Ability to understand and comply with company and plant policies covering plant employees
- Ability to effectively monitor production operations and quickly detect and respond to processing problems
- Ability to understand and comply with safety and environmental regulations
- Ability to work under general supervision with specified objectives, policies, and performance standards
- Ability to refer to supervisor when in doubt as to the proper procedure for a specified action
