Position: Mechanical Maintenance Technician III
Reports to: Maintenance Supervisor
Shift: Day shift plus on-call rotation
Pay: $35.00+ USD

The Mechanical Technician III assists mechanical engineers in designing, testing, adjusting, and maintaining engineering machinery and equipment. This position performs complex maintenance on equipment necessary for cement manufacturing.
What you'll be contributing:
- Promote and follow all plant safety guidelines.
- Inspects plant process machinery and provides recommendations for repair.
- Installs and repairs plant process machinery and provides detailed written description of work performed.
- Operates boom lifts, cranes, forklifts, and other related mobile equipment.
- Provides scope of work, parts requirements, and equipment requirements for repairs during scheduled and unscheduled mill and kiln outages.
- Additional duties as assigned by supervisor.
To succeed in this position, you will need:
- High school graduation or equivalent is required.
- Ability to read, write and understand warning labels, instructions, signs, etc.
- Willingness to learn, training will be provided.
- Minimum of a HS Diploma or GED required
- Technical or Vocational training preferred
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in Heavy Process Equipment (HPE) Cement Plant Operations Required
- Knowledge of pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems
- Knowledge of all types of equipment used in cement manufacturing
- Ability to repair and rebuild plant equipment with little or no supervision viz fans, blowers, pumps, elevators, crusher, clinker cooler, kiln, compressors, reclaimers, ball mills, vertical roller mills, air slides, gates, valves, coal mills, rail and truck loading equipment, air separators, FK pumps, air cannons, etc.
- Ability to reason through difficult operations/maintenance problems, resolve said problems, and relate same to others
- Knowledge of storeroom and tool room procedures
- Ability to determine equipment conditions by visual observation and listening to its operation
- Ability to remove and install guards and other equipment weighing up to 50 lbs
- Ability to inspect and repair dust collectors
- Ability to align couplings, motors, and gearboxes with indicators and other equipment
- Ability to rebuild gearboxes and other equipment
- Ability to maintain and replace bearings
- Ability to lubricate equipment properly
- Ability to splice conveyor belts; install idlers, tail pulleys, and all other parts needed in a belt conveyor
- Ability to use tools such as impact plant wrenches up to 2" drive torque wrenches, hand and power tools, and sledgehammers up to 12 hours
- Knowledgeable of MSHA standards and requirements
- Knowledge of hazards associated with areas of responsibility
- Ability to read, write, and verbally communicate in the English language
- Must be able to utilize various measuring devices (micrometers, square, level, etc.), including precision and specialized tools
- Must be able to exhibit competence in shielded arc welding & flame cutting

What to expect in a cement environment:
Work to be performed in a shop environment as well as outdoor exposure throughout the plant. Mild exposure to cement dust, heat, cold, and noise requires compliance with specified safety guidelines and procedures. Exposure to high elevations of up to 250 feet in height. Exposure to all weather conditions. Normal operation of mobile equipment may result in jarring and vibratory exposure.
