The Team
The Card Planning and Delivery Team is looking for a dynamic Sr. Manager of Project Management. Card Planning and Delivery leads the delivery for some of Card's highest priority initiatives, including Discover Integration. In this exciting new role role, you will work closely with high level internal stakeholders to deliver and amplify Card's most impactful work, solve complex problems from our distinct vantage point, all while balancing strategy and tactics for well-managed delivery. Our projects work runs the gamut, some examples are: launching new products, leading new business integrations or leading platform modernizations.
The Role
As Sr. Manager of Project Management within Card Planning and Delivery, you will collaborate with smart and passionate leaders to influence results that have a direct impact on the company's bottom line. You will lead important and exciting projects from day one, working alongside key stakeholders across the company. Although the opportunities are endless, the core responsibilities of a Senior Manager of Project Management include:
- Lead moderate to large sized teams on high-priority initiatives and work streams that span across Card and Capital One
- Design, develop, and manage project plans and governance and delivery roadmaps in a complex dynamic environment
- Partner with project customers to provide strategic and tactical recommendations in support of project governance and delivery with a service-minded attitude
- Drive solutions to complex problems across cross-functional teams by applying sound business judgment to navigate trade-offs between competing priorities
- Effectively manage scope, schedule, resources, budget and communicate status, impediments, and risks/issues of the program
- Deliver results and influence business outcomes across all levels of the organization
- Consults with senior management, project sponsors, and/or other stakeholders regarding the interpretation of governance requirements and execution risk management.
- Build relationships and collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure delivery of commitments
- Influence and manage a large set of stakeholders/Intent owners across COF ranging from VP+ to associate
- Leverage and translate data into compelling stories to drive action
The person will:

- Have excellent communication and partnership skills which are essential for interacting and communicating with key stakeholders at all levels across the company to manage, inform and influence outcomes

- Ability to set direction, manage expectations and lead cross-functional teams
- Be comfortable working in a fast paced time sensitive environment
- Be confident, respectful, and articulate when registering dissenting opinions with colleagues and senior management
- Lead process reinvention strategies with largely horizontal impacts
- Serve as subject matter expert on governance and process improvement initiatives
- Exemplify excellent People leadership and development competencies, while holding themselves and others to a high bar for quality and results

Basic qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or military experience
- At least 6 years of experience in Process or Project Management
- At least 3 years of experience in project governance (managing intent, milestones, risks, and decisions)
Preferred qualifications:
- 2+ years with Audit responses
- 3+ years of experience with project management tools (Sheets, Jira, MS Project, Confluence), specifically building reporting
- 5+ years of experience working, supporting or partnering with internal business clients
- 7+ years of Process or Project Management experience
- 7+ years of People Management experience
- Process or Project Management certification (ie Lean, Six Sigma, PMP), Business Management certification

This role is hybrid, where you will be expected to spend 3 days per week working in office (McLean VA or Richmond VA) and the remainder of the week working virtually.
The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
McLean, VA: $170,800 - $194,900 for Sr Manager, Project Management
Richmond, VA: $155,300 - $177,200 for Sr Manager, Project Management
Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter.
This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
