About the role

We are looking for a Senior Business Operations Manager to join our Accommodations Strategy, Business Operations and Program Management team, helping us to drive the rhythm of the business for our Business Unit. Our new team member will play a pivotal role in driving the governance cadence, business performance management, operational efficiency, planning and cross-functional collaboration of the Accommodations Business Unit, as well as be the key interface to the other Business Units, Business Functions and Corporate Functions within Booking.com. They will work closely with the Accommodations leadership team (ALT) and other departments to establish and optimize business processes, streamline operations, ensure discipline in our day to day operations and governance and achieve our organizational business goals.

The Senior Business Operations Manager is responsible for designing, driving and overseeing the day-to-day operations (strategy, systems, execution, intelligence and performance) of our Accommodations Business Unit to ensure it runs effectively and efficiently to achieve shared objectives and mitigate key risks and dependencies. They will also drive and facilitate the adoption of Company wide processes within Accommodations impacting major strategic initiatives and day to day operations.

The Senior Business Operations Manager partners with the ALT and our Accommodations Extended Leadership team (ELT) to make sure the right prioritization is in place, objectives and plans are defined appropriately and at high quality and that the right tracking is in place to monitor progress and KPIs of those.

The Senior Business Operations Manager acts as the Accommodations BU's single point of contact for all yearly and quarterly business planning activities, as well as the execution of the planned activities after annual and quarterly budget submissions. They will also facilitate alignment between departments and make sure the results of the yearly and quarterly planning will be correctly identified and followed up.

This role may also play a part in the creation and execution of the strategy, ensuring that the right topics are being worked on. This may include governance and active program and / or portfolio management or leading the change for Booking.com's most complex transformations alongside our Strategy and Program Management teams within across respective functions in the Accommodations BU.

Key Job Responsibilities and Duties

Craft methodology and standards:

  • Lead the design & implementation of structured methodology to ensure an effective way of running business as usual operations
  • Craft change agent for the Department. Drive and shape the agenda for Business Operations Craft initiatives within the Function (and potentially BU)

Process Excellence

  • Design, implement and/or execute thoughtful, yet simple, processes to increase efficiency and productivity
  • Drive the optimization of business operations by driving adoption of standardized processes across the Accommodations BU to increase efficiency and effectiveness while also simplifying where possible

Planning

  • Support processes setting the vision, objectives, budget and planning of execution
  • Effectively oversee the planning process for the Accommodations BU
  • Effectively lead the adoption of Corporate planning process through all the different phases, including driving and facilitate cross departments handshakes and dependencies planning process

Cadence

  • Define, execute and manage the rhythm of the business working closely with the Accommodations Leadership Team, ensuring an effective adoption of Corporate cadence (eg. Quarterly Operational and Planning Reviews, Strategic Portfolio Management tracking, Planning and Budget, etc) and an efficient governance of the BU
  • Ideate and implement a cross departmental engagement model to effectively run shared objectives where it is relevant

Performance management

  • Actively manage the Accommodations BU objectives, metrics and milestones (tracking and reporting), providing insights and recommendations to the ALT. Initiate and lead projects aligned to (improve) KPIs of overall business/financial/operational performance

Stakeholder management:

  • Lead the cross-functional collaboration efforts among various teams, departments, and stakeholders
  • Acts as a central point of contact, streamlining processes, fostering teamwork, and driving operational efficiency
  • Effectively influence across all levels, up to SVP Accommodations

Role Qualifications and Requirements

  • Proven 10+ years of experience in Business Operations, Program Management, and/or similar function
  • Craft skills: Strong process management and problem solving skills including experience with project / change management approaches and phases. Preferably having a solid data and insights analytical skills, comfortable in facilitating effective governance and business as usual initiatives
  • Independently use quantitative and qualitative data to drive decision making and lead by example
  • Ability to think strategically and connect dots where others have a limited view; able to identify challenges and opportunities and drive solutions/actions recommendations and follow up.
  • Business Operations, Program Management, Commercial/Operational Excellence, change management experience (including methodologies and best practices)
  • Exemplary role in effective communication, including "embracing change/ growth" mindset. Encourages people to become change agents & embrace change. Explicitly communicates: why change, what will change, how, when, where and whom it impacts (with possible outcomes and costs). Adjusts communication style to the audience to help them understand and accept the change

  • Highly organized and structured and make sure all processes run smoothly and in a reliable manner. Able to envision and design effective tools and resources to drive process optimization

  • Ability to break up highly complex problems into actionable and easy to understand solutions.
  • Be able to design and implement processes which aims to improve our internal partners needs and expectations.
