PositionSummary
The Global Trade Compliance Specialist is responsible for ensuring thecompliant,efficient,andtimelyimportofproductsandmaterialsintotheUnitedStates.ThisrolesupportsBD'sglobalsupplychainoperationsthroughcustomscompliance,importexecution,brokermanagement,regulatorycoordination,andtradeprogramadministration.
The successful candidate will serve as a key resource for import compliance, customs regulations,HTSclassification,PartnerGovernmentAgency(PGA)requirements,andbrokerperformancemanagementwhilepartneringwithinternalstakeholders,suppliers,customsbrokers,andgovernmentagenciestofacilitatecompliantinternationaltradeoperations.
KeyResponsibilities
ImportOperations&CustomsCompliance
- ManageimporttransactionstoensurethetimelyandcompliantclearanceofproductsandmaterialsintoBDfacilitiesandcustomerlocations.
- ClassifyimportedproductsusingHarmonizedTariffSchedule(HTS)codesinaccordancewithU.S.Customsregulations.
- DetermineandmaintainaccuratePartnerGovernmentAgency(PGA)datarequirements,includingFDA,USDA,EPA,andotherapplicableagencies.
- CollaboratewithRegulatoryAffairsandbusinesssubjectmatterexpertstoobtainproductinformationrequiredforHTSclassificationandPGAcompliance.
- ReviewcommercialinvoicesandimportdocumentationtoensurecompliancewithU.S.Customsrequirementsandresolvediscrepanciesasneeded.
- ProvideclearanceinstructionstocustomsbrokersandfacilitatethereleaseofshipmentsheldbyCustoms,FDA,orothergovernmentagencies.
- Communicateimportrequirementsanddocumentationexpectationstosuppliersandvendors.
TradeCompliance&SpecialPrograms
- Manageimportsundertariffmitigationprograms,including:
- FirstSaleforExport(FSFE)
- NairobiProtocol
- TemporaryImportBond(TIB)
- Interpretimportregulationsandprovideguidancetosupportcompliantbusinessoperationsandtradestrategies.
- Conductimportentryauditsandpost-entryreviewstoensurecompliance,brokerdeclarationaccuracy,andproperrecordretention.
- Supportcontinuousimprovementinitiativesrelatedtoimportcomplianceandtradeprocesses.
CustomsBrokerManagement
- Managecustomsbrokerrelationshipsandmonitorserviceperformance.
- EnsurecustomsbrokersunderstandandexecuteBDimportproceduresandStandardOperatingProcedures(SOPs).
- OverseeImporterSecurityFiling(ISF)complianceandbrokerperformance.
- Addressoperationalissuesimpactingshipmentclearance,compliance,orservicelevels.
- MaintainandupdatebrokerimportSOPsasregulatoryorbusinessrequirementschange.
Systems&Cross-FunctionalCollaboration
- Manageimport-relatedEDItransactionsandtroubleshootsystem-relatedissues.
- PartnerwithGlobalTransportation,Procurement,RegulatoryAffairs,DistributionCenters,MasterDataManagement,andotherstakeholderstoensureimportcompliancerequirementsaremet.
- SupportthedevelopmentandimplementationofstandardizedimportprocessesacrossBDbusinessunits.
- UtilizeERPandGlobalTradeManagement(GTM)systemstosupportimportoperationsandtradecomplianceactivities.
RequiredQualifications
- Bachelor'sdegree.
- 3-5yearsofexperienceinglobaltradecompliance,importoperations,customsbrokerage,orarelatedinternationaltradefunction.
- Strongknowledgeof:
- U.S.Customsregulations

- FDAandPartnerGovernmentAgencyimportrequirements

- Excellentwrittenandverbalcommunicationskillswiththeabilitytoeffectivelycommunicateacrossmultiplefunctions,cultures,andorganizationallevels.

- ProficiencywithMicrosoftOfficeapplications,particularlyExcel.
- MustholdacurrentU.S.CustomsBrokerLicense(CBL)orbeactivelypursuingone,including:
