Job Description:

Join a collaborative team of attorneys who provide transactional, regulatory and other legal support to investment banking and capital markets colleagues on matters arising out of Bank of America Asia Pacific businesses. You would be the point person for providing legal support to the Japan business. This is a unique opportunity to be part of one of the world's leading investment banking and capital markets platforms globally, supporting clients around the world and across all major industries on transactions ranging from financial advisory services in connection with mergers & acquisitions to equity and debt offerings.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist bankers by reviewing/negotiating transaction documents, including confidentiality agreements, engagement letters, underwriting agreements and opinions;
  • Engage, instruct and supervise external counsels;
  • Sssist in structuring and executing corporate and capital markets transactions;
  • Help in developing internal guidelines, policies, procedures and standardized documentation;
  • Identify and advise on regulatory developments, new products or trends in the market; and
  • Interact with different internal functions and develop a relationship with internal stakeholders as a trusted partner, providing practical legal advice.

Required Skills:

  • Qualified lawyer under the laws of Japan and/or the laws of a common law jurisdiction.
  • A minimum of three years post qualifications experience with a leading Japanese or international law firm or financial services company working on international corporate and/or capital markets transactions.
  • A desire to learn and interest in contributing from start to finish on helping clients on headline transactions.
  • Fluent in Japanese (native level required in speaking, reading and writing) and English; based in Tokyo.
