Software Engineer, Apple Intelligence Model Platform

The Proactive Intelligence Platform is at the heart of an intelligent system experience that understands you and anticipates your needs. We are building an on-device personal and contextual intelligence platform that will benefit the millions of people who use Apple devices every day. Our team is comprised of Systems engineers and ML engineers focused on seamlessly integrating intelligence into all Apple products. Our team is responsible for developing exciting new features across all Apple platforms -- iOS, macOS, watchOS, tvOS, visionOS, and Private Cloud Compute. You should have a strong understanding of operating system fundamentals and experience working throughout the stack. As a member of the team, you would participate in all stages of software development, from new feature design and implementation, to maintenance and bug fixing of released code. You will develop and improve unit tests, performance tests, and diagnose and resolve customer reported issues. Your ideas will power next generation features, and directly impact hundreds of millions of people worldwide in their daily lives!

Description

As an engineer on the Model Platform team, you'll join a phenomenal team of hardworking engineers and will be entrusted with a range of responsibilities. Your work will include: Collaborating with teams across Apple on training, qualifying, deploying, and serving models; designing and refining systems and APIs for Machine Learning and Generative AI; understanding and adapting new model architectures to constraints of their execution environments; working with leadership across Apple to define policy. You will be responsible for bringing industry leading research to hundreds of millions of people using Apple products every day!

Minimum Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of OS architecture and systems programming fundamentals
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Excellent software design, problem solving and debugging skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proven ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply cutting-edge research into tangible applications
  • Exceptional professionalism, with the ability to deliver solid work on tight schedules
  • Development experience for iOS and/or macOS
  • Development experience with Python
  • Background architecting and building data or machine learning platforms

Pay & Benefits

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $147,400 and $272,100, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple's Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
