Description
Apple is looking for a Photonics Design Engineer to work on research and development of novel integrated photonics devices in sensing applications. You will work within an optical science team and collaborate with a multi-disciplinary group to demonstrate new photonic components and sensor concepts. In this role, you will be responsible for design, simulation, and characterization of silicon photonic components to enable the next generation of photonic integrated circuits.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Physics, Optics, Electrical Engineering or equivalent fields
- Experience with simulation and modeling of photonic components
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of relevant industry experience
- Master's or PhD degree in Physics, Optics, Electrical Engineering or equivalent fields
- Deep understanding of optoelectronics, photonics, and semiconductor devices
- Extensive design and modeling experiences of passive and active components on SOI platforms as well as circuit-level simulations
- Proficiency in multiphysics and simulating environmental aggressors (e.g. electromagnetic, thermal, and mechanical strain)
- Good understanding of optical measurement techniques and hands-on experience in device characterization
- Strong programming skills and proficiency in statistical data analysis in Python, Matlab, JMP or similar
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
Pay & Benefits
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $143,100 and $264,200, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs.
