VP of Central Technology

Key Responsibilities

Leadership

  • Reporting to the CTO, run and oversee all day to day aspects for the Central Technology organization (a 100+, multi-disciplined organization developing and supporting mission critical products and live services for Zynga’s entire portfolio of games)
  • In collaboration with the CTO, understand Zynga’s company objectives and technology strategy in order to develop and communicate the Central Technology team’s vision and  goals
  • Provide strong leadership across all disciplines, inspire and motivate the team through personal example, enthusiasm, and dedication
  • Build a resilient, capable team which embraces accountability, seeks opportunities to maximize their potential, and takes pride in their accomplishments
  • Build effective relationships with internal customers and supporting partner groups
  • Supervise all activities for the Central Technology group, including engineering, product management, project management and operations

Development

  • Drive execution from concept to live, accountable for meeting milestone commitments and quality targets
  • Create, own, and improve all development processes, including effective implementation of agile methods
  • Establish and operate a system to measure and track quality as well as progress against department objectives
  • Manage the Central Technology budget including outsourcing, hiring, and technology spend
  • Identify, assign, and track development and organizational improvement initiatives to completion
  • Ensure the team is trained on the necessary skills, processes, and best practices
  • Solve problems, balance priorities, and find creative solutions to achieve results
  • Seek knowledge and apply it to improve the organization

Qualifications

  • 7+ years in a leadership role with emphasis on managing technical projects and software engineers
  • Strong people management skills (capable of growing leaders, managing through managers and running a 100+ person department)
  • High level of technical acumen in mobile development, knowledge of how to build highly reliable and scalable services, AWS, data and analytics
  • Bachelor’s or higher degree in Computing Science or related technical discipline
  • Mastery of project management (including Agile methodologies)
  • Comfortable using Excel to track, model, and analyze data
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Sound decision-making based on both data analysis and judgement
  • Strong negotiation, change management, and conflict resolution skills
  • High degree of initiative, takes opportunities to make improvements
  • Ownership mentality: responsible, invested in outcomes
