JOB TITLE: Special Education – Teaching Assistant (Part-Time) – Brays Oaks – Immediate

REPORTS TO: Campus School Director, Campus Learning Lab Specialist

JOB GOAL: The Special Education Teaching Assistant will work under the supervision of the Special Education Teacher to provide instructional and behavioral support for students with special needs.

ILLUSTRATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Assist Special Education Teacher with the supervision of students in all instructional settings;
  • Assist Special Education Teacher with behavior management techniques by demonstrating, modeling, and positively reinforcing desired behaviors;
  • Maintain data as identified by teacher(s) and/or Behavior Intervention Plan;
  • Assist in tailoring lessons to an individual student’s needs;
  • Support Special Education teacher with lesson plans by practicing and reinforcing learning concepts and assisting students in reaching goals;
  • Assist students in performing self-help and academic skills;
  • Assist with administration and scoring of tests and work assignments;
  • Assist Special Education Teacher with implementation of accommodations and or modifications;
  • Adapt classroom activities, assignments and/or materials to support and reinforce classroom objectives;
  • Monitor students during transition times throughout the school day, inside and outside of the classroom;
  • Additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

The ideal candidate for this position will possess the following:

Education/Certification

  • High School diploma

Experience

  • Minimum of two years of relevant work experience
  • Ability to physically assist students with self-help, mobility, academic and behavioral skills

COMMITMENT AND COMPENSATION:

Length of Work Year:

This is a temporary, part-time, non-exempt, position working approximately 20-25 hours per week. This position is expected to end at the end of the 16-17 school year
