Software Engineer - Javascript (WiFi)

Do you love getting free WiFi at local businesses? So do we! Join Yelp’s WiFi team on a new and exciting quest supporting Yelp’s mission to connect great local businesses through WiFi. We’re building the tools and infrastructure that businesses rely on to manage their customer retention, ad campaigns, analyze their impact, and enhance their Yelp presence.

We’re building out a diverse set of projects with opportunities to use new technologies for our customer facing and business facing portals, so we’re growing our team! We are an agile team who constantly iterate and experiment to improve ourselves and our products. What You Will Do:

  • Build our next generation application using modern Javascript frameworks.
  • Work alongside product and design teams to influence and build new features and run experiments as a key member of the WiFi team.
  • Write robust, maintainable code and solve problems in unique and innovative ways.
  • Identify and communicate best practices for mobile and desktop web application development as a key member of the larger Javascript developer community at Yelp.

We Are Looking For:

  • Mastery of Javascript.
  • Experience with modern Javascript libraries and tooling.
  • Extensive experience with HTML, CSS, and related technologies.
  • Strong Computer Science fundamentals.
  • Able to write clean and maintainable code from mock ups.
  • You value happiness and a good work environment.
  • Comfortable working in a Unix environment.
  • Able to play well with others, incorporate feedback from other engineers and product managers.
  • Experience with both mobile and desktop web application development.
  • If you don't have at least one year of experience in a similar role, please take a look at our College Engineering roles instead!

Pluses:

  • Experience working on large EmberJS projects.
  • Experience building with Node.js
  • Experience with TDD and code reviews.
  • Active contributor to open source projects.
