Software Engineer - Backend (m/f/d)

Where You Come In:

  • You will design and build new systems to support our business owners
  • You will work with a variety of technologies and systems, from deployment pipelines to RESTful APIs
  • You will dig into the services that support our organization and look for ways to make Yelp better every day
  • You will advocate for best practices and champion new technologies
  • You will collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and other engineering teams

What it Takes to Succeed:

  • You have expertise in at least one dynamic language
  • You have knowledge of at least one popular server-side framework (Django, Twisted, Rails, Pyramid, CodeIgniter, Play, etc.)
  • You have had experience working with relational and distributed data stores
  • You're familiar with service-oriented architectures
  • You've got a desire to learn, share your knowledge, and always improve your engineer-self
  • You believe in well-tested code
  • You are comfortable running services or batch jobs in a Unix environment
  • You have had experience working with technologies like Redshift, ElasticSearch, Hadoop/MapReduce, Kafka, Spark, Cassandra, or AWS DB services (this is a plus).
