Associate Creative Director

We’re looking for an Associate Creative Director with a copywriting background and a history of standout work.  We’ll know you’re the perfect fit because your portfolio will be overflowing with examples of your writing mastery — from as little as 140 characters right through to long-form articles. Your expertise in copywriting will speak for itself, but that shouldn’t stop you from telling us about it in your cover letter. (#humblebrags encouraged.)

Reporting into our VP-Consumer Marketing, you’ll lead a team of copywriters, instilling your hard-earned words of wisdom and writing prowess. You’ll be a shaman, a shepherd, a guide — whatever title you prefer, really — and you’ll push the team (and the brand) to new heights.

We collaborate with teams throughout the company, so you can expect to work on a broad range of Yelp’s diverse creative and copy. Although we have our fingers in many pies (we like to think they’re mostly banana creme), our mission remains at the heart of everything we do — to connect people to great local businesses. Currently, honing the Yelp voice is at the top of our to-do list, and we’d love to hear your ideas.

You will be

  • Responsible for general direction of the Yelp brand voice and overall strategy.
  • Concepting and crafting original, diverse copy for multiple teams, including product, local events, digital advertising, email, video, social media, and PR.
  • Collaborating with our Art Director and design team to support and promote our brand - to various audiences across multiple channels.
  • Providing strategic insight and creative inspiration.
  • Managing and developing our team of copywriters and be a leader whose passion for breakthrough work is contagious.
  • Paying close attention to impact, including growth in brand and digital metrics.

  • 8+ years of experience penning dynamic copy and editing with an eagle eye for detail.
  • Experience managing a team of copywriters.
  • A strong sense of Yelp’s voice and what the company stands for.
  • A profound love for local communities around the world.
  • Successful presenting ideas to colleagues of all levels.
  • Thrives on working with tight deadlines and has experience in a brand-focused environment.
  • In-house marketing or agency experience, ideally with some ecommerce or retail exposure

  • All candidates should include a link to their online portfolios or pdfs with samples of their digital work and resumes.

Pursuant to the San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance, we will consider for employment qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records.
