NEUROPHYSIOLOGY TECH I

Participates in a process of instruction and activity to perform Long Term Audio Visual monitoring via scalp and intracranial electrodes on adult and pediatric patients of the Epilepsy Surgery and Pediatric Monitoring Programs. Prepares equipment and supplies for such procedures. Provides assistance to physicians performing these and similar studies as required.

Responsibilities

  • 1. Performs duties associated with monitoring patients being evaluated during Continuous Audio Visual EEG Recording. Provides assistance to physicians performing these and similar studies as required.
    • 1.1 Prepares the patient and supplies prior to the process of Continuous Audio Visual EEG Monitoring, via scalp and/or intracranial electrodes.
  • 2. Follows established safety precautions and procedures in the performance of all duties to ensure a safe environment.
    • 2.1 Consistently demonstrates a complete knowledge of body mechanics as evidenced by no injuries sustained as a result of improper body mechanics in this evaluation period.

Qualifications

EDUCATION


Graduation from high school or equivalent.


EXPERIENCE


One to two years experience in a patient care function within a hospital setting, such as PCA, Nurse's Aide or similar position.


SPECIAL SKILLS


Familiarity with computer systems (basic keyboard skills). Self-directed. Demonstrated interpersonal skills. Knowledge of hospital environment.
