Overview

Performs a wide variety of locksmith duties including but not limited to; maintaining lock hardware, change combinations, pin, re-core, create or duplicate keys, install or repair locks, and passage sets.
Performs all preventive maintenance work as needed to meet or exceed DPH, Joint Commission, and or Connecticut Life Safety Codes. Maintains Morse Watchman's Remote Key Distribution boxes., Knox boxes, and stand alone electronic systems. Services main campus as well as off-site clinical and non-clinical YNHH facilities.

Responsibilities

  • 1. Performs a wide variety of locksmith duties including but not limited to; maintaining lock hardware, change combinations, pin, re-core, create or duplicate keys, install or repair locks, and passage sets. Performs all preventive maintenance work as needed to meet or exceed DPH, Joint Commission, and or Connecticut Life Safety Codes. Maintains Morse Watchman's Remote Key Distribution boxes., Knox boxes, and stand alone electronic systems. Services main campus as well as off-site clinical and non-clinical YNHH facilities.
    • 1.1 Responds to all emergency service calls within one () hour and corrects problem or sets up a time frame with the originator of call as to when to expect corrective action as observed by the manager.
  • 2. Maintains a current inventory and associated records of all lock, keys and allied supplies, as well as a complete set of tools and/or machines, based on supply and demand, in order to provide efficient services. Keeps shop clean and prepared for emergency inspections. Meets Service Level Agreement completion times as noted by the Service Response Center (SRC)
    • 2.1 Orders supplies and equipment necessary to provide efficient services to meet the twenty-four (24) hour requirement of service calls, 90% of the time, as observed by the manager.
  • 3. Manages key control systems, Morse Watchman, Sargent Key Wizard, works diligently to maintain key control. Keeps all records of master keys as requested by the Physical Security Manager
    • 3.1 Meets with department heads, Engineering Department foreman and outside contractors to provide input into renovation and construction plans in regards to lock systems, when needed and as observed by the manager.
  • 4. Responds to request for emergency service while on-call without deviation as noted by the Manager or Supervisor on duty.

Qualifications

EDUCATION


Position requires high school diploma, Verifiable Apprenticeship and or Certification from an approved locksmithing technical institution.


EXPERIENCE


Position requires three (3) to five (5) years experience in service, maintaining, repair, installation, and basic administration of modern commercial and institutional locksmithing systems.


LICENSURE


Verifiable Apprenticeship and or Certification from an approved locksmithing technical institution.


SPECIAL SKILLS


Must have quality technical locksmith skills and a basic understanding of various pin systems, products, grand master, sub master, etc.. and other basic mathematical skills as needed to perform number based locksmith duties. Must have basic computer skills to work with modern network key control systems and take basic computer training as directed by the supervisor.


PHYSICAL DEMAND


Must have excellent customer service skills and be self motivated. Must be able to stand for long periods of time, frequent walking, lifting of at least 40lbs, and needs excellent eyesight in order to work with very small hardware parts.
