As a core member of the Care delivery team, the Clinical Nurse practices as the patient's nurse and collaborates with the team to facilitate the coordination of patient care at the unit level. Through utilization of the nursing process, the clinical nurse diagnoses and treats patient and family responses to actual or potential health problems. The Clinical Nurse is accountable to the patient, family, peers, and Manager. Patient and family centered care (PFCC) at YNHH is demonstrated by working with patients and their families based on the 4 principles of PFCC: participation, dignity and respect, information sharing, and collaboration. This includes providing service excellence by creating a great "First Impression" by demonstrating exemplary customer service skills for all customer groups including patients, families/friends, physicians, staff and support department personnel. Adheres to the "I Am YNHH" service excellence pledge and promotes a positive work environment.
Casual status RN Program for the following specialty areas:
- Med/Surg General Nursing
- ED / Emergency Room
- Pediatric General Nursing
- Womens Health
This position requires a minimum schedule of 32 hours a month after the orientation period has concluded.
Work requirements also include 12 shifts per year of either off-shift or weekends, as well as minimum two holidays per year.
Tier levels are based on the number of specialty areas in which candidates can demonstrate competency.
Tier 1 - $40/hour plus applicable shift differentials - evaluated as competent in one specialty area
Tier 2 - $43/hour plus differentials - two specialty areas
Tier 3 - $46/hour plus differentials - three or more specialty areas

Ideal Candidates will demonstrate the following skills/experience:
- Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing (BSN preferred)
- Active Registered Nurse licensure in the State of Connecticut
- Current BCLS certification or must obtain within one month of hire
- Minimum - two years of recent acute care experience
- ICU specialty - one year of direct ICU experience
All RNs are expected to advance to their optimal level of functioning through promotion via our clinical ladder.
