Under the authority of the Manager of Spiritual Care, provide direct ministry to patients, their family members and hospital staff.



  • 1. Provide periods of crisis ministry coverage to the whole hospital, carry and respond to calls via the on-call pager(s), respond to referrals, and provide periods on in-patient and clinic coverage on a time limited basis.
  • 2. Provide pastoral care to patients, families and staff, according to hospital policy and departmental protocols.
  • 3. Document pastoral care visits in EMR and paper charts (as appropriate) and in departmental logs.
  • 4. Make referrals to other chaplains as appropriate and to community cledrgy with the patient's permission.
  • 5. Participate in departmental meetings (when available) and meet departmental annual educational requirements.
  • 6. Comply with hospital and department requirements for Casual Status Employees

Demonstrated emotional and spiritual maturity sufficient to work in a crisis setting, and demonstrated skills in pastoral care in an institutional setting.
