DTS Play-Fi is the wireless streaming technology that brings all the music  and media from your mobile device to your speakers at home. Our technology powers your ability to enjoy your entertainment content out-loud with family and friends, in every room of your house.

In this role, you will contribute to cross-platform network multimedia system development for our Play-Fi suite of products.

You will leverage your strong programming skills in Android Java and C/C++, deep understanding of the Android framework and Android TV framework, with the ability to translate networking and multimedia concepts into efficient and optimized implementations are required.

Your Impact

  • Architecting and developing network software, including Android / AndroidTV applications and middleware
  • Contributing to R&D proof-of-concepts
  • Read and comprehend technical papers and presentations
  • Write clear and concise technical documentation and correspondence
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Your Experience

  • BS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience, MS preferred
  • Deep understanding of network/socket programming, memory management and multi-threading
  • At least 7 years of experience with C/C++ and Java
  • Android Java and deep understanding of Android / Android TV framework and audio subsystem is a huge plus
  • Understanding of compressed audio codecs including MP3 and AAC
  • Understanding of multimedia network protocols (mms, rtp, rtsp, etc.)
  • Understanding of principles of multimedia frameworks
  • Understanding of issues arising from network programming and troubleshooting ability
  • Experience coding globalized mobile apps that work smoothly in multiple languages

Your Location

For this role, we are looking for our new exceptional team member to be located in our Calabasas, California office working closely with our Play-Fi Engineering teams as you play an essential role in shaping the future of Xperi. In addition, international travel may be required up to 2x a year.
