The San Diego and SOMA offices of Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati are looking for a Patent Practice Group Assistant for our IP - Patents & Innovations group in the area of biotech, who will handle all US filings for patent prosecution. This position offers a range of responsibilities related to patent prosecution. Candidates must have a working knowledge of the patent prosecution process, have the ability to generate formal USPTO documents, prepare shell responses, and have experience e-filing applications and generating reporting letters. Candidates should also be familiar with generating reports from CPI and utilizing the United States Patent and Trademark Office's Patent Application Information Retrieval system. Strong organizational skills are required to manage all aspects of the practice, including keeping the attorneys and patent agents on track through overseeing the docket and taking a proactive approach. Effective communication and interpersonal skills are a must, along with strong computer skills and superior attention to detail. A minimum of three years' experience in a Patent Assistant role is required. Occasional overtime work may be necessary.
