Job Summary

The Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) Business Applications Manager serves as a key member of the IT Leadership Team to help enable the mission of WWP by efficiently delivering innovative mission critical solutions and provide outstanding customer service to Finance, Purchasing and Accounting, Human Resources, Legal, Facilities, PMO and IT business partners. The Business Applications Manager partners with WWP business staff and vendors to resolve business issues in a timely and efficient manner. The manager leads a team responsible for implementing, administering, and improving technology applications for WWP business teams.

  • Manage and provide direction to support our Business Applications.
  • Provide vision and leadership in alignment with organizational strategy
  • Develop a service-oriented team that delivers exceptional solutions that align with Business Application requirements in a collaborative manner
  • Oversee team processes, monitor metrics, and make continuous improvements to elevate the team’s efficiency
  • Effectively develop team to reach fullest potential. This includes: coaching, objectives setting, performance management, and feedback
  • Review workflows developed by developers/analysts to understand tasks a WWP system will perform
  • Evaluate and recommend new technologies to best support WWP initiatives
  • Guide the design, implementation, and delivery of work within the team that cultivates communication and best practices
  • Manage implementations of applications: Approve, schedule, plan, and supervise the installation and testing of new products and improvements to applications
  • Identify and evaluate non-profit industry trends to serve as a source of information and advice for future projects
  • Work closely and develop strong relationships with Business Applications business partners
  • Present team deliverable and track status of current projects and maintenance activities
  • Budget and Forecast Management
  • Other related duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Mentor and coach team members. Provide coaching as needed in order to help develop skills.
  • Maintain overall responsibility of daily operations of the team.
  • Perform team members performance reviews
  • Assess team member skill gaps to determine training that will complement team member’s skills
  • Manage contractor and development partner interactions: i.e. work assignments, etc.
  • Assign technical resources to conduct analysis of user requests to determine scope, time estimates, and system impact
  • Able to lead a team in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively and efficiently manage multiple projects/priorities with varying complexity
  • Strong troubleshooting skills
  • Practical technical and business domain experience relative to custom and/or vendor applications required
  • Experience managing IT Applications functions - software development, implementation and support/maintenance services; scope management, timeline, budget, SDLC (Agile, etc.)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Project, Visio
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills; team player
  • Foster strong and collaborative relationships with team, internal business partners, and external vendors

Education & Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field required. Equivalent combination of education and work experience will be considered in lieu of the degree, Master’s Degree preferred
  • Minimum five (5) years of information technology experience required
  • Minimum three (3) years as a supervisor/manager required
  • Minimum one (1) year experience managing ERP solutions, knowledge of Dynamics Great Plains, required
  • Knowledge of Agile, Scrum, Waterfall SDLC preferred
  • Experience managing HRIS solutions, preferred, knowledge of Workday, preferred
  • Experience managing CRM solutions, preferred, knowledge of Salesforce, desirable
  • High level technical knowledge of integrating disparate applications, helpful
  • Must be able to travel between 25% - 50% of the time including overnight and weekend travel
