Testing and QA Analyst

The role:

As part of a cross functional scrum team, you will:

  • Be involved early in setting your team’s quality requirements
  • Bring a passion for quality and attention to detail to your team
  • Work with your team to create and implement automated test scenarios
  • Verify functional aspects of user stories delivered by the team match requirements
  • Actively participate in scrum meetings and 3 amigos, helping to identify quality aspects of stories
  • Track defect rates over time, and actively work with operational teams and your team for process improvement
  • Aid with solving problems independently and quickly and sharing findings with the QA team
  • Recognize and highlight when process improvement or escalation is necessary

You are:

  • Experienced in both exploratory and automated testing
  • Experienced in working in a financial web environment
  • Able to analyse test scenarios, apply critical thinking, and troubleshooting skills
  • Actively interested in automated testing frameworks and libraries
  • Passionate about learning, training and sharing of knowledge
  • Ambitious, driven to learn, and want to bring new skills to the team
  • Able to understand developer code reviews, manage test coverage and Bug fix verification and validation process
  • Able to think beyond assigned task, and be a good team player

We expect the following foundational knowledge:

  • Different types of testing and when to use them
  • Web application working environments across platforms and browsers
  • Frameworks and tools for testing complex PHP/MySQL applications
  • Bug tracking tools such as JIRA
  • Agile development strategies, Scrum and Kanban
  • QA tools such as PHPUnit, Behat, Selenium
  • Understanding of code and deployment tools, Git, SVN, Bamboo, Hudson
  • Practical and systematic approaches to testing, with Solid understanding of object-oriented programming, Software Design Patterns with good coding disciples and SDLC

You are not afraid of:

  • Using the Linux CLI
  • Using version control, specifically git
  • Running SQL queries on a database and understanding complex data
  • Picking up some development skill along the way
