The IT Team

You will be joining the growing in-house IT team at World First team, consisting of ~100 people and growing.  We cover all areas of support, systems, websites, front and backend applications, networks across our offices in Europe, Asia, USA and Australia and are passionate about producing great quality systems to drive the business forward.

The role:

Reporting to: Head of IT
Reporting in: Infrastructure (Platforms and Networking) Team and Global Service Desk Manager

  • Managing the operation of our Service Desk, Infrastructure and Network & Security teams
  • Defining and meeting service levels for IT operations
  • Managing the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, upgrade and support of all current IT systems, including operating systems, software applications and peripherals
  • Ensuring infrastructure, applications and data are available and secure
  • Accountable for infrastructure documentation and procedures
  • Leading the development and implementation of IT policies and procedures in conjunction with the Information Security Officer
  • Assisting with the delivery of internal and partner projects
  • Assisting with the planning and implementation of the IT budget. Supporting financial aspects of the IT function, including purchasing, budgeting and budget review
  • Training employees in best practice
  • Maintaining/testing Disaster Recovery, Business Continuity and Incident Response plans
  • Taking an active role in shaping our future IT environment

What you need to know:

  • Previous experience managing a medium sized global IT operation
  • Experience with Linux based infrastructure:
    • Virtualisation, Containers, Cloud
    • NGINX/Apache/HAProxy
    • PHP/Java/MySQL/Kafka/Elasticsearch
    • Experience working with developers in a devops environment
  • Experience of managing bespoke in-house infrastructure and applications in addition to traditional vendor systems
  • A clear vision for processes, training and tools
  • Ability to take initiative, make decisions and maintain focus on goals to enable projects to be delivered on time and in budget
  • Broad understanding and awareness of modern IT infrastructures and best practices
