What You’ll Do:
You will manage our entire company’s suite of user endpoints, from provisioning machines to ensuring we are within compliance and stay secure. We use a smattering of MacOS, Windows, Linux, iOS, Android, and a few other device types across multiple campuses and remote offices on both coasts and in Canada. This role is open in our Headquarters in Midtown, New York.

- Own the tools and systems for device management of user endpoints including laptops, desktops, conference room machines, overhead display machines, mobile phones, tablets, and one very cool arcade machine
- Manage software licenses
- Execute on security controls and compliance requirements as core to your work
- Manage our equipment and inventory lifecycle, including procurement, deployment, imaging, repair, and decommissioning.
- Procure and maintain system licensing
- Serve as the first line of defense for equipment malfunction on our business systems, working with our vendors and on-demand technical support teams
- As needed tech support, with an eye for educating users
- 2-5+ years experience working with information systems in an IT role
- Experience with Windows, Macs, and mobile devices
- Experience with G-Suite and other SaaS business tools
- Well-organized team player with effective communication skills, both written and oral
- Interest in SaaS technology, workforce automation, and current IT best practices
- Remote office collaboration technology (Zoom, Jira, etc)
Bonus Points for:
- Experience working in a high-growth environment and comfortable problem-solving when Google or DuckDuckGo yield no obvious search results
- Familiarity with acronyms like MDM/UEM/EMM
- Device imaging, virtualization, and provisioning
- Git or version control management
- Basic programming
- System Administration Experience (please list certifications if you have them)
- Comfort with Audio/Visual Systems
- Knows how to do math with excel or google sheets.
- Commensurate educational background

1. Password on a sticky note
Walking around the office (as you’re keen on doing from time to time) you notice that one of our Vice Presidents has a sticky note that reads “Bumper$123XX” written on it, stuck to the top of their open laptop. You suspect it’s a password to their machine. The VP is nowhere to be found and the computer is unlocked.
- What do you do?
- If the machine belonged to a software engineer, what would you, if anything, do differently?
- If the VP was sitting there, what would you, if anything, do differently?
- How are you going to secure the system admin password?
- What type of account would you create for user who will be using the machine?
2. I demand satisfaction!
A software engineer approaches you stating that they need to run Linux as the core operating system on their machine. Current policy, however, states that machines must be either boot Windows on MacOS exclusively: no dual booting.
For the purposes of this challenge, you are Supreme Ruler of the IT department, in charge of all its policies. How do you handle the situation and why?
