General Purpose:

Performs IT functions such as design, analysis, evaluation, testing, debugging and implementation of applications programs supporting company business processes and operations. Analyzes, installs, acquires, modifies and supports operating systems, database or utilities software. Plans, conducts and directs the analysis of business problems to be solved with automated systems. Analyzes, designs, acquires and implements projects for LAN and/or WAN systems. Plans, designs, acquires and implements telecommunications voice/wire systems. At higher job levels, may contribute to the development, testing, evaluation or design of system or infrastructure architecture used throughout the IT solution set.

Design, develop and deliver / implement data solutions, lending support to various business and technology teams as necessary to ensure solid, scalable, robust solutions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Systems: Analyze/Configure/Install/Maintain/Document DMZ networks, virtual networks, hardware and software load balancing. Responsible for reporting and ensuring that Service Level Agreements for performance, availability, and recoverability are maintained.

Application: Provide consulting services to engineering departments regarding high availability, javascript, XML, HTML tools and standards, including best practices in their usage; install third party software and custom applications as required to run and maintain the WEB ecommerce infrastructure.

Security: Maintain system upgrades and security patches according to WEX policy and system requirements; maintain Disaster Recovery documentation and perform Disaster Recovery drills as required by the Business Continuity Plans across the Enterprise.

Leadership: Provide technical mentoring and light training for other engineers and application development. Provide exceptional technical internal and external customer service. Ability to work independently, as well as lead a team of business and technical peers.

Research: Keep abreast of technologies in the marketplace that may be of benefit to the business; make proposals and lead proof-of-concepts; develop recommendations and present to management

Support: Provide 7x24 support for assigned system components and provide backup support for other engineers, as needed

Vendors: Manage vendor relationships (e.g., Oracle, OpenSource, Linux, Adobe)

Other assigned duties as required

Minimum Required Qualifications for Consideration

Degree (Engineering or Computer Science a plus) with 4-7 years systems engineering experience.

Demonstrated knowledge and experience administering storage area networks.

In depth knowledge of WEB and secure network infrastructures for which he/she is accountable; working knowledge of other system components and how they interact.

Ability to program in an administrative language in order to automate manual processes.

Working knowledge of highly available, secure web infrastructures.

Working knowledge of ITIL process and supporting procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

BS/BA degree (Engineering or Computer Science a plus) with 4-7 years systems engineering experience; Masters' degree a plus.

Experience with virtualization and virtualized environments preferred; exposure to VMWare a plus.

Strong working knowledge of secure ecommerce network design and implementations.

Experience managing virtual networks, SSL Certs, Apache Tomcat servers.

Working knowledge of LDAP and AD.

Experience installing, configuring, and maintain FTP, SFTP, TLS services.

Strong interpersonal and communications skills; capable of writing proposals or papers, acting as a vendor liaison, making presentations to customers or client audiences or professional peers, and working closely with upper management.

Ability to solve problems quickly in order to get systems back online for customers; ability to perform root cause analysis and develop solutions to prevent problems from recurring.
