organizational commitment for all high-level communications infrastructure plans, and initiate and participate in projects to evaluate technologies and methods for implementing these plans.

The SCE will work closely with decision makers throughout the organization to identify, recommend, develop, implement, and support cost-effective network and communications technologies. The SCE will benchmark, analyze, report on, and make

recommendations for the improvement of the communications and network infrastructure systems. The SCE will apply proven analytical and problem solving skills to help validate, verify, communicate and resolve highly complex systems/software applications and

network communications issues.

The SCE is responsible for planning, designing, and analyzing the organization's network and communications infrastructure needs, while meeting the organizations requirements for high availability. The SCE is also responsible for capacity planning, performance

analysis, and developing disaster recovery plans as well as understanding and adhering to ITIL disciplines (problem, change, configuration, capacity, and release management).

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of company's strategic business plans
  • Collaborate with end users and senior management to define business requirements for complex systems development and gain buy-in for all Network Infrastructure plans
  • Provide Architectural consulting expertise, direction, and assistance to Analysts, Consultants, Engineers, and Architects
  • Document and develop in-depth knowledge of WEX's existing Communications and Network architecture and technology portfolio
  • Develop and manage a Communications Infrastructure capacity plan
  • Resolves highly complex Communications Infrastructure problems affecting business applications and computing systems
  • Develop, document, communicate, and enforce a technology standards policy
  • Conduct research on emerging technologies in support of Communications and Network infrastructure development efforts, and recommend technologies that will increase cost effectiveness and flexibility
  • Develop, document, make recommendations, and communicate plans for investing in IT communications and network infrastructure, including analysis of cost reduction opportunities
  • Develop and execute test plans to check communications and network infrastructure performance. Report on findings and make recommendations for improvement
  • Contribute to horizontal and enterprise business strategy development by bringing forth impacts and opportunities associated with available and emerging technologies. Ensures alignment of technology goals and plans with corporate strategies
  • Functions as a subject matter expert in Communications Infrastructure and associated technologies across the enterprise
  • Mentor other Communications Infrastructure Engineers on ITIL principles that are used within the Infrastructure Operations Organization
  • Aid in the development and implementation of IT policies and procedures, including those for architecture, security, disaster recovery, standards, purchasing, and service provisioning
  • Aid in negotiation and administration of vendor, outsourcer, consultant contracts and service agreements
  • Communication audience, negotiation partners, and sphere of influence extends across the enterprise, including vendors and senior level managers. Shares technical information and expertise in multiple cross-organizational forums
  • Takes a lead role in independently and proactively proposing technical solutions that address business needs across the enterprise
  • Highly proficient in exercising leadership behaviors repeated in a variety of challenging situations that are complex, ambiguous, and have more disagreement/conflict
  • Capable of performing as a project leader on medium to large projects
  • Take an active role in cross-departmental or cross-organizational projects when needed
  • Cultivate and disseminate knowledge of IT Communications architecture, engineering and support best practices

OPEN TO CANDIDATES WHO CAN WORK REMOTE IN NORTH AMERICA

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or other related field and/or the equivalent combination of unique education, specialized experience, skills, knowledge or training
  • 10 Years of related work experience
  • Job and/or industry related professional certifications preferred (CCIE, CCNP)
  • Experience in with multiple IP PBX systems is a plus (Cisco Call Manager, Avaya, Interactive Intelligence, ETC)
  • Extensive experience in a converged communication environment involving Voice / Video / Data and Storage convergence including QoS methodologies and design
  • Extensive experience with developing strategic plans
  • Hands-on experience with business requirements gathering and analysis
  • Proven experience in Communications systems design and development
  • Strong understanding of IT principles and practices
  • In-depth technical knowledge of network hardware, platform operating systems and related sub-components
  • Advanced technical knowledge of current operating systems, communications software, protocols, and standards
  • Ability to prioritize and divide time between multiple projects
  • Good knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws
  • Exceptional analytical, conceptual, and problem solving abilities
  • Superior written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent technical architecture and technical support documentation skills
  • Strong interpersonal and consultative skills
  • Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
  • Highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail
