General Purpose:

Develops and executes security controls, defenses and countermeasures to intercept and prevent internal or external attacks or attempts to infiltrate company email, data, e-commerce and web-based systems. Researches attempted or successful efforts to compromise systems security and designs countermeasures. Maintains hardware, software and network firewalls and encryption protocols. Administers security policies to control physical and virtual access to systems. Provides information to management regarding the negative impact on the business caused by theft, destruction, alteration or denial of access to information and systems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Risk Assessments:

Coordinates and conducts the annual WEX Information Security Risk Assessment program.

Conducts vendor security risk assessments.

Maintain and perform policy exceptions and risk acceptance memos.

Regulatory Compliance:

Contributes to WEX response to external (e.g., HIPPA, HITRUST, GDPR, PCI, FDIC/FFIEC, SSAE16, SOX) and internal audits working with all areas of IT and the business as required.

Participates in the design and implementation of new systems to ensure protection of information and processes supporting company policies, standards, and current audit and compliance requirements.

Outreach and Awareness:

Contributes to the identification and definition of computer/data security awareness, training and education initiatives across WEX.

Partners with Learning & Development to implement such programs.

  • May be internal or external, client-focused, working in conjunction with Professional Services and outsourcing functions. May include company-wide, web-enabled solutions.
  • Individuals whose primary focus is on developing, testing, debugging and deploying code or processing routines that support security protocols for an established system or systems should be matched to the appropriate Programmer or Programmer/Analyst family in the Information Technology/MIS functional area.

Minimum Required Qualifications:

  • Solid in-depth understanding of data processing and related data security concepts
  • Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 3 years and a Master's degree; or a PhD without experience; or equivalent work experience.
  • In depth knowledge PCI DSS 3.x.
  • Experience with the FDIC, FFIEC, Sarbanes Oxley and other regulatory frameworks.
  • Ability to work under stressful conditions.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • CRISC, CISM, CISSP and/or CISA certifications, a plus
