The WEX Summer Data Science and Analytics Internship offers a 4 to 24 months experience for students looking for work experience with the flexibility to attend school throughout the year. WEX Co-Op interns can work beyond the summer period into the school year with the understanding that WEX is flexible with their school schedules.
We are looking for students interested in Data Science and Analytics.
Our internship program is designed to provide interns hands-on, practical experiences while working alongside our some of our industry's smartest teams; as well as providing immediate value to their teams and our leaders.
As an intern, you will be challenged and offered the opportunity to make an impact across the business and be involved in the company's most critical business decisions.
We are looking for ambitious and curious students, who are interested in growing professionally and developing their skills to become the next generation of leaders in technology.
What you will be doing in this role
Data Science and Analytics
Deploying predictive models and integrating them into business processes and applications.
Designing and building algorithms and predictive models using techniques such as linear and logistic regression, support vector machines, ensemble models (random forest and/or gradient boosted trees), neural networks, and clustering techniques.
Using machine learning and data mining techniques to understand the patterns in large volumes of data, identify relationships, detect data anomalies, and classify data sets.
Explore existing data sources using AWS Athena and Tableau
Determine how existing data could be transformed and/or combined with additional data sources in order to solve an analytical problem
Experiment with various big data technologies, statistical methodologies, and machine learning methodologies to prototype a solution to an analytical problem.
Create visuals and presentations to report progress and results.

Who we are looking for
At a minimum, you should be a masters-level student, in a technical degree/certificate-seeking accredited program
Proficient understanding of relational SQL (e.g. Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL (Mongo, Neo4j) databases and data structures.
Experience with machine learning (deep learning, clustering, random forests, boosting, etc.)
Experience with statistical modeling (linear models, time series, ARIMA, PCA, etc.)
Experience with AWS (EC2, EMR, Athena, S3, Glue, etc.)
Experience with big data technologies (Hadoop, Spark, Hive, etc.)
Experience with data visualization (Tableau, matplotlib, ggplot2, shiny, etc.)
