Material Handling Manager

WeWork is seeking a motivated and experienced Material Handling Manager (MHM) to manage inventory and material movement in a brand-new facility in Edison, NJ. This person will be responsible for the efficient flow of raw material, shipping/receiving, material movement, inventory accuracy, and the packaging of finished goods. This position will also be responsible for the collection and reporting of key-performance-indicators for inventory accuracy, the timely delivery of material within the shop, the packaging and handling of finished goods, and following the principles of the company's long-term strategic plans.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Enforce safety rules and lead by example in safe work habits

  • Provide leadership to the facility with respect to SHE Management and OSHA, ADA, and EPA Compliance

  • Maintain a high standard of quality and guide direct reports to do the same

  • Manage, train, and motivate material handling personnel

  • Schedule and organize cycle counts to maintain inventory accuracy

  • Track material discrepancies along with Quality Control to efficiently remove defective material from production activities

  • Manage material handling costs and efficiency

  • Regularly report on the key metrics of the department and acknowledge accomplishments, pursue corrective actions, and ask for help when needed.

  • Follow the principles of lean production and mentor supervisors in these skills

  • Follow best practices with ERP system transactions to maintain inventory accuracy

  • Establish and maintain an inventory organization system for the timely storage and retrieval of material

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related field

  • 10 years of supervisory experience in manufacturing, warehousing, or material handling environments.

  • Strong knowledge of lean production principles and practices

  • Proven history of developing a material handling and inventory department including training employees, working with ERP Systems, establishing cycle count activities, and organizing a warehouse

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 15 years experience in a management role in manufacturing, warehousing, or material handling environments.

  • Master's Degree in Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering

  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Certification

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred

  • Ability to understand technical drawings and mechanical principles

  • Excellent computer skills
