Global Manager, Indirect Tax Compliance

We are looking for an Indirect Tax Manager to help lead WeWork's Indirect Tax (VAT/GST) Compliance function. You will work directly with the Senior Manager of Indirect Tax to handle the monthly compliance process and ensure WeWork remains VAT/GST compliant, as WeWork expands into new markets. You will ensure that filings are made on time and that submissions are legally compliant with local Tax laws. You will interact with various operating groups within the organization including finance, treasury, and commercial parts of the business. You should possess strong VAT/GST knowledge and should be a self-starter, who can balance multiple priorities.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Manage Indirect Tax compliance reporting across multiple countries including, reviewing VAT/GST compliance returns produced by the Indirect Tax Analyst

  • Approve the submission of VAT/GST compliance returns prepared by third party advisor(s)

  • Liaise with finance and shared services to address issues identified during the compliance process (e.g. incorrect invoice postings)

  • Ensure that VAT/GST audits are completed in a timely manner

  • Oversee the tax configuration of WeWork's ERP system

  • Drive continuous improvements in the Indirect Tax return compliance process, through optimizing systems data and building streamlined processes

  • Onboarding VAT compliance processes for new countries, as WeWork grows to new markets

  • Prepare data and documentation for voluntary disclosures, as required for responsible countries

  • Liaise with third party advisors, who may assist in handling all or some of the above

Experience/Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree; major in Tax, finance, accounting, and/or economics preferred

  • 5+ years of experience in VAT/GST, in particular VAT/GST compliance

  • Expertise in Microsoft Excel

  • Strong communicator and collaborator

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Highly motivated and willing to take on multiple responsibilities at once

  • Able to work comfortably under pressure and meet tight deadlines

  • Knowledge of Workday is a plus
