Private Business Loan Underwriter 3
This opportunity exists within Business Banking Operations & Credit Services. The position is responsible portfolio management activities of central business loans up to the Central Business Banking exposure cap of $1.0 million dollars. The underwriter analyzes complex financial and credit information for commercial business or high net worth customer loans according to business unit standards. Compiles, analyzes, and documents loan data, credit risk, borrower and property information, and coordinates activity in support of portfolio management activities including, problem loan transfers, rate modification and servicing transactions. Investigates complex loan servicing requests from bankers and customers, investigates credit standards and determines credit risk associated with a centrally managed commercial loan portfolio. May negotiate loan modification provisions.

They are accountable for execution of all applicable risk programs (Credit, Market, Financial Crimes, Operational, Regulatory Compliance), which includes effectively following and adhering to applicable Wells Fargo policies and procedures, appropriately fulfilling risk and compliance obligations, timely and effective escalation and remediation of issues, and making sound risk decisions. There is emphasis on proactive monitoring, governance, risk identification and escalation, as well as making sound risk decisions commensurate with the business unit’s risk appetite and all risk and compliance program requirements.
- 4+ years of underwriting experience
- 4+ years of commercial lending experience
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
- Commercial loan experience
- A BS/BA degree or higher in accounting, finance, or economics
- Successful completion of the Wells Fargo formal Credit Training Program
- Knowledge and understanding of loan structuring across broad spectrum of product and loan types
- Business banking experience
- Ability to receive and transmit written communications
- Ability to work in a fast paced deadline driven environment
- Ability to gather, organize, and interpret data
