Job Description

This position is within Corporate Trust Services (CTS).

Through its Maryland offices, Wells Fargo Bank is the premier provider of Corporate Trust Services to the Mortgage-Asset Securities Market. We are currently seeking a highly-motivated, dynamic individual to fill an Operations Accountant 2 position within the Tax Department. The successful candidate will perform moderately complex operational accounting activities relating to the maintenance of our system of record. Duties may include: performing first and/or second level review & validating Form W-8 ECI, W-8 EXP, W-8 BEN, W-8 BEN E, W-8 IMY & Form W-9, providing operational accounting support to internal business groups and/or operations departments; reviewing customer supporting documentation; updating the systems of records, performing customer account maintenance duties and other duties as assigned. The candidate may have indirect/direct interaction with customers, clients or Line of Business contact.

They are accountable for execution of all applicable risk programs (Credit, Market, Financial Crimes, Operational, Regulatory Compliance), which includes effectively following and adhering to applicable Wells Fargo policies and procedures, appropriately fulfilling risk and compliance obligations, timely and effective escalation and remediation of issues, and making sound risk decisions. There is emphasis on proactive monitoring, governance, risk identification and escalation, as well as making sound risk decisions commensurate with the business unit’s risk appetite and all risk and compliance program requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years of accounting experience, operational accounting experience, or a combination of both

  • Customer service experience
  • Ability to read and interpret legal documents
  • Advanced Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access) skills
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills

Other Desired Qualifications

  • Tax Experience
  • Working knowledge of MD3
  • Experience reviewing Forms W-8 and W-9
  • Flexible with overtime, as needed
