Job Description

Wells Fargo Merchant services is looking for an experienced Wells Fargo credit professional to create and lead a new credit and risk unit focused solely on the Wholesale Merchant Services segment. Knowledge of the payments industry with experience in credit, risk and fraud are desired. The selected candidate will be charged with and empowered to create customer and relationship team centric processes and procedures. This position can be located in Walnut Creek, CA, San Francisco, CA, Minneapolis, MN or Melville, NY.

Responsibilities:

Manages a small group responsible for the day-to-day governance and oversight of the credit risk function in a small or medium level function or business. Develops and manages department and team objectives. Duties may include; directing and coordinating the various activities related to assessing and predicting risk and performance through business analysis and/or modeling; contributing to development of appropriate strategies that ensure risk is within risk appetite; acting as a technical expert for management. Analyzes and assists with the approval of programs and policies with a measureable impact on the level of risk taken in credit activities.

They are accountable for execution of all applicable risk programs (Credit, Market, Financial Crimes, Operational, Regulatory Compliance), which includes effectively following and adhering to applicable Wells Fargo policies and procedures, appropriately fulfilling risk and compliance obligations, timely and effective escalation and remediation of issues, and making sound risk decisions. There is emphasis on proactive monitoring, governance, risk identification and escalation, as well as making sound risk decisions commensurate with the business unit’s risk appetite and all risk and compliance program requirements

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of risk experience
  • 5+ years of management experience

Desired Qualifications

  • Ability to articulate issues, risks, and proposed solutions to various levels of staff and management
  • Ability to provide leadership by coaching, training, and mentoring
  • Experience communicating in both written and verbal formats with senior executive-level leaders
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills
  • A BS/BA degree or higher

Other Desired Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Wells Fargo Credit and Underwriting
  • Previous Experience in the electronic payments industry
