Job Description

Wells Fargo Wholesale Technology is seeking seeks a capable and motivated individual to be a member of the WholesaleTax Technology team based in NewYork/Charlotte. We are seeking a tax technologist with proven experience in leading projects, process design, detailed execution, and working with tax professionals and other technologist in Onboarding, Withholding, Data management and Reporting aspects of the domestic and international tax technology program. This position will help improve efficiency and effectiveness of Tax Department processes by leveraging existing technology and identifying and implementing new technology as appropriate

The Tax Technology Manager (TTM) will be responsible for working with Wholesale Tax Leaders/SME as well as Line of Business technology teams to define requirements, collaborate on design and process improvements, building, implementing and supporting the requirements for achieving business tax objectives and tax withholding, reporting and compliance policy. This involves a multi-year roadmap created to ensure that Wholesale Tax office is adequately equipped with technology and supporting processes. In close alignment with the Wholesale Tax Program and Technology leadership teams, TTM will appropriately guide the outcome of various technology initiatives impacting Wholesale Tax office as well as Wholesale Lines of businesses. TTM will be expected to have a proficient level of knowledge and experience in Tax Regulations, Risk Management and Wholesale Banking to partner with subject matter experts to properly guide the design, implementation and development of a stable and scalable Tax Technology platform across Wholesale lines of businesses. The position will collaborate with team members in separate geographical locations and will require remote management skills and travel. This position is responsible for administrative management of staff and may be responsible for managing consulting, contract and software vendor resources.

In order to be successful, the TTM

  • must possess the ability to understand the strategic roadmap and engaged in day-to-day execution to meet strategic goals.
  • will have demonstrated ability to manage diverse relationships and foster a collaborative team dynamic with various stakeholders located globally.
  • must possess deep knowledge of tax technology and tax process best practices, and to be able to translate that knowledge into actionable solutions.
  • will need to organize projects, define and articulate requirements (verbal and written), and lead staff and consultants on all aspects of project delivery.

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of technology experience
  • 5+ years of management experience in an IT environment

Other Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Information Technology
  • 7 or more years of experience in corporate tax systems and processing
  • Experience with Tax onboarding, reporting and withholding systems/vendors
  • Experience with Tax technology related deliverables in big 4 consulting or financial industry a big plus.
  • Working with relational databases and multi-tiered complex application architecture.
  • Strong leadership skills and experience leading others and working in a matrixed environment
  • Experience working with tax and accounting professionals
  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to write clear concise requirements documents
  • Highly motivated and organized; excellent attention to detail

  • Workflow design and implementation
  • CPA, Enrolled Agent or other professional certification
  • Dual major or advanced degree in accounting or finance a plus.
