Wells Fargo Audit Services is separated into individual audit teams, each led by an Executive Audit Director (EAD). These teams include Community Banking & Operations (CBO), Consumer Lending Group (CLG), Corporate Risk (CR), Enterprise Technology Audit Group (ETAG), Finance & Corporate Activities (FCA), Financial Crimes Audit Team (FiCAT), Strategy & Operations (SAOG), Wealth and Investment Management (WIM), and Wholesale Banking (WHLS).

The primary function of Audit is to determine if the company’s risk management, systems of control, and governance processes are adequate and functioning as intended. Working together, we reduce risk to protect our customers, our team members, and our communities to enhance shareholder value. While audit skills are a primary need, teams also seek potential candidates who can demonstrate subject matter knowledge of Regulatory Compliance including BSA/AML, Basel, operational risk, data analytics, credit functions, and Information Technology General Controls (ITGC). We offer traditional audit roles on our various line of business teams and non-traditional roles that support teams through audit coverage coordination, subject matter expertise, and methodology change groups.

Specific Duties:

Audit Leaders participate in integrated audits and lead execution of the audit process in accordance with WFAS policy.

With guidance and support from the engagement supervisors, Audit Leaders are responsible for:

  • Identifying and assessing key risks and controls
  • Developing effective test plans for engagements with limited guidance
  • Exhibiting appropriate judgment regarding issue notification
  • Issuing draft of findings to business partner’s management
  • Drafting final audit reports for review by the engagement supervisor and Senior Audit Manager
  • Coaching junior staff regarding required knowledge and skills

Audit Leaders exhibit understanding of related business functions, which include technology, operational, financial, and regulatory understanding across multiple businesses.

Audit Leaders are responsible for leading projects that are generally small to moderate in size and complexity. Often handles multiple assignments, but generally are leading only one project at a time.

Audit leaders are able to:

  • Develop and apply effective project leadership skills
  • Demonstrate professional skepticism
  • Present audit results in an objective and unbiased manner
  • Write opinions reflecting relevant facts that lead to logical conclusions
  • Escalate significant risks and loss exposures to appropriate levels of management
  • Effectively coach and guide other team members through the audit process

Required Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following: audit, control testing, control and risk identification, or audit analysis

Desired Qualifications

  • Audit experience at a large financial institution or auditing company.
  • A BS/BA degree or higher in accounting, finance, or business administration
  • Solid knowledge and understanding of audit methodologies and tools that support audit processes
  • Ability to execute in a fast paced, high demand, environment while balancing multiple priorities
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and across all organizational levels, where flexibility, collaboration, and adaptability are important
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Good analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Solid problem solving skills
  • Strong organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills

Other Desired Qualifications

  • Certification in one or more of the following: CIA, CISA, CPA, CRCM, CAMS or CFSA designation
  • Experience leading and providing feedback to staff on audit projects or engagements. Similar to Auditor in Charge responsibilities.
  • Specialization in areas such as Regulatory Compliance including BSA/AML, Basel, operational risk, data analytics, credit functions, and Information Technology General Controls (ITGC).

Job Expectations

  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time
