Job Description

Responsible for the day-to-day account management of more routine, less complex group benefit accounts. Responsible for marketing to carriers and customers, preparing coverage/product recommendations and discussing renewals with customers. Develops and maintains working relationships with customers/prospects. Communicates with, services and provides comprehensive account support to assure customer needs are met. May provide work direction to less experienced staff.

They are accountable for execution of all applicable risk programs (Credit, Market, Financial Crimes, Operational, Regulatory Compliance), which includes effectively following, and adhering to and if applicable Wells Fargo policies and procedures, appropriately fulfilling risk and compliance obligations, timely and effective escalation and remediation of issues, and making sound risk decisions. There is emphasis on proactive monitoring, governance, risk identification and escalation, as well as making sound risk decisions commensurate with the business unit’s risk appetite and all risk and compliance program requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of insurance experience or successful completion of the WFI Associate Program

  • Customer service focus with experience actively listening, eliciting information, comprehending customer issues/needs, and recommending solutions
  • Group insurance products experience; including applicable carrier networks, carrier administrative guidelines, and compliance requirements
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities and deadlines
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and across all organizational levels; where flexibility, collaboration, and adaptability are important
  • Basic Microsoft Office skills
  • Good verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Solid problem solving skills

Other Desired Qualifications

  • Advanced knowledge of group insurance products including applicable carrier networks, carrier administrative guidelines and compliance requirements for small community rates and manually rated accounts 100 lives and below
  • Basic knowledge of alternative funding options available in the under 100 marketplace
  • Ability to draft and RFP for all lines of coverage and determine appropriate plan options to spreadsheet and present to client along with renewal options.
  • Basic knowledgeable in financial modeling and benefit administration technology
  • Basic understanding of underwriting and claims analysis
  • Demonstrate communication and problem-solving skills
  • Maintain positive attitude within department, as well as all insurance carriers and vendors
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy skills
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities and deadlines
  • Expectation is that 100% of deadlines will be met
  • Ability to be collaborative and work effectively in a team environment and across all organizational levels
  • Proficient in WFIS SOP (Standard Operating Procedures) and demonstrates ability to stay on top of all requirements
  • Strong in Microsoft Office skills: Outlook Email, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Proficient in BenefitPoint and FileNet within 30 days of employment
  • Ability to communicate with Principals, CFO’s, HR Department Staff of small firms and carriers representatives to build and strengthen relationships of trust
  • Negotiates with carriers/underwriters on program design and pricing
  • Prepares and assists in presenting proposals to new/renewal customers
  • Conducts employee enrollment meetings
  • Manages independently an appropriate sized book of business of accounts under 100 lives limited supervision from management or guidance from the Sales Executive
  • Listens to customer and comprehends issues/needs
  • Evaluates issues (e.g. claims, service and/or legislative)
  • Recommends solutions independently
  • Seeks guidance on more complex accounts as needed
  • May provide guidance and work direction to Insurance Assistants/Account Representatives, including delegation of work

Job Expectations

  • Designated insurance license requirements must be completed within 180 days of hire date. Compliance with state law requirements is required.
