Duties: Serve as the subject matter expert for data, analytics, and testing within business unit. Derive innovative and new approaches for measuring core business metrics and consumer behavior. Perform deep-dive analysis including the application of advanced analytical techniques to solve some of the more critical and complex business problems such as website funnel progression, customer segmentation and targeting, and supply chain optimization. Serve as thought leader for analytics and collaborate with leaders of other functional areas such as Marketing, Operations, Storefront web, Finance, Sales & Service to identify the most impactful ways for data and analytics to drive decision making and accelerate profitable growth. Comprehend, extract, and massage information from multi-terabyte data sources including sales, clickstream, product, and customer databases to deliver business insights and recommendations. Identify and triage root causes behind critical shifts in key business metrics and outline potential hypotheses to explain the changes and potential courses of action. Design and build solutions to empower stakeholders across Wayfair to self-serve analytics needs. Define and execute on the analytics roadmap for tracking and monitoring the health of the business unit. Lead complex analytics investigations into strategic business questions. Define key metrics and structure the work to get meaningful and actionable insights for the business. Identify and develop the analytics reporting and insights strategy for business unit’s core metrics. Create new methods to visualize core business metrics through reports, dashboards, and analyses in Tableau to surface trends. Conduct technical code reviews for junior analysts and peers across analytics organization to ensure code accuracy and efficiency. Mentor junior analysts. Assist in onboarding new team members.

Requirements: Master’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Analytics, Mathematics, Statistics, Information, Systems, Operations Research, Economics, Management,  or a directly related quantitative field and one (1) year of experience in analytics, business intelligence, data science, or engineering role performing quantitative analysis. Must have one (1) year of experience in the following (experience may be gained concurrently):

  • SQL including Aggregate functions and joins, or other structured program languages such as Python Java, C;
  • Conducting quantitative analyses on large data sets;
  • Excel (pivot tables, vlookup, etc.), or Tableau;
  • Ability to code in SQL or similar structured program language; and
  • Solving mathematical problems.
