Wayfair continues to build a best-in-class North American Retail team to fuel growth across our brands and multiple product categories across our different shopping platforms. As part of this journey, we are seeking a bright, driven leader to help us execute upon brand and/or category specific initiatives to take share in the home industry. This leader is a key component of propelling Wayfair from $6B to $15B and beyond.

North American Retail is the organization within Wayfair that drives the overall strategy for the multitude of brands/product categories that are offered across our channels of business under Wayfair, LLC; Wayfair.com, Joss&Main.com, AllModern.com, Birchlane.com, Perigold.com, and Wayfair.ca. The strategic growth & retail leader will serve as the internal and external ambassador of the brand/product categories we manage and will mobilize and coach suppliers on how to grow their business on our sites and leverage internal partners to execute on the strategic vision to win in the online home space. They will serve as the category or brand owner of the business, with a 360 view of it; ensuring that Wayfair is poised for success across the following levers: Pricing and Selection, Merchandising, Promotions, Logistics, Marketing, Customer Service, and Brand Authority.

As a Strategy Leader, you will:

  • Develop and implement brand/category strategies to achieve revenue, organizational and profitability goals
  • Build profitable relationships with existing suppliers and execute negotiations to secure best pricing, sales programs, and promotional support
  • Advance catalog growth, including the identification of selection gaps, the prioritization of new item production, and the development of relationships with new, target suppliers
  • Collaborate across departments to drive business goals (departments include Promotions & Email Planning, Marketing & Advertising, Site Merchandising, Inventory Planning, Product Management, Supplier Operations, PR, Customer Service, Business Intelligence)
  • Analyze complex data to strategize profit growth opportunities for a brand/category and for specific supplier partners
  • Analyze competitors’ marketing, selection and pricing and make strategic changes
  • Lead and organizationally scale a team of individuals; train, develop and mentor senior managers
  • Use new technologies to enhance business goals /customer experience
  • Attend tradeshows to visit key suppliers (4-8 times per year in cities such as New York, NY, High Point, NC and Las Vegas, NV)

You’re a great fit if you have:

  • 10+ years of experience or 4+ years post MBA experience preferred
  • Experience in strategic organizational growth, team management, consulting, private equity, investment banking, or corporate strategy preferred
  • Thrives in a high growth, entrepreneurial, and ambiguous environment
  • Demonstrated experience independently developing a strategy and driving tangible results across teams in an ambiguous environment while leveraging data from a multitude of sources to tell a story and impact the overarching strategy.  Advanced excel skills needed
  • Evidence of “scrappy startup execution” and a “get it done” attitude when time is tight and stakes are high
  • Proven experience and passion for working across functions and with c-level leaders, synthesizing multiple points of view and owning a coherent action plan, all while negotiating and influencing others
  • Effective oral and written communication skills with the ability to tailor communication style based on the audience
