General Manager of Paid Search

Wayfair is looking for an experienced leader to own our paid search channel across, Wayfair CA, and our Lifestyle brands. This critical channel ensuring Wayfair captures as much demand for new and emerging categories and continues to drive customers to our brands when they are most in-market. As the GM of Paid Search Marketing you will be responsible for the strategy and roadmap behind the program responsible for ~20% of Wayfair visits and driving significant revenue for Wayfair.

At the core of this role we try to answer:

  • On which search queries do we have a right to win?
  • How much are we willing to pay for search traffic?
  • How do we use machine learning and cutting edge technology to automate bidding and campaign management, fully leveraging all our 1st and 3rd party date to maximize efficient scale?
  • How do we find arbitrage opportunities on Google to further accelerate our growth? 

The GM of Paid Search will lead a team of ~15+ designing, launching, and iterating on our search campaigns. Wayfair operates at massive scale and complexity with over 10 million products and 150k products added every day. As the GM of Paid Search, you are passionate about data and embrace the challenge of evolving our technology to get smarter, more predictive and intelligent with how our customer shops, what they look for, and how they discover Wayfair. Working closely with data scientists, engineers, business intelligence analysts, creative, ad tech systems, and pricing, you will innovate and enhance our playbook for search marketing and maximize the value of our search campaigns.

Given the strategic nature of this role, qualified candidates must have strong quantitative and analytical skills. This role is a high profile e-commerce entry point for top-tier consultants, investment bankers, product managers or for an experienced marketing professional looking for a new challenge within an already rapidly growing business. What You'll Do

  • Define KPIs for search marketing campaigns and establish stretch goals for 3-6-12 month time windows
  • Define, pilot, and rapidly iterate initiatives, with an understanding and strategic view on all internal/external factors and influences
  • Manage and optimize a multimillion marketing spend to meet ROI goals
  • Partner with and leverage internal teams to help drive agenda and implementation
  • Closely monitor campaign performance and react to deviations from plan quickly
  • Relentlessly drive growth through innovative strategies and meticulous execution to drive step change improvements in performance
  • Institute rigorous test-and-learn methodology to achieve desired results
  • Develop talent within the organization, mentoring/developing team

What You'll Need

  • Track record of success driving significant results
  • Experienced Consultant, Product Manager, or Marketer looking to make the move to Internet commerce leader; or experienced GM or eCommerce leader
  • Ability to communicate effectively to senior and executive management; exceptionally strong written and verbal communication skills that can be tailored to internal partners
  • Seasoned in managing timelines, delivery, dependencies, communication across teams
  • Analytically comfortable building a strategy and story using large data sets
  • Ability to think and perform both tactically and strategically
  • Able to pivot readily and react to real-time data
  • Ability to think and perform both tactically and strategically
  • Comfortable in a data-driven business environment
  • Excellent interpersonal and team building skills including experience managing high performing teams
  • Positive, people-oriented, and energetic attitude
  • Familiarity with Excel, SQL, and Test and Learn practices a plus
  • BA with strong academic record (strong preference for quantitative backgrounds: mathematics, economics, etc.) Top MBA preferred
