Associate Director, Corporate Finance - Supplier Financing

With Wayfair’s continued growth comes the need for strong financial expertise along multiple dimensions, paired with strategic thinking, partnership and support across the business. As part of the newly created Global Supplier Financing team, the Associate Director, Financing Operations & Portfolio Management will manage Wayfair’s supplier financing portfolio in close cooperation with senior leaders from Finance, Operations, and Legal. The core focus will be placed on continuous performance management and scenario analysis/stress testing of existing financing to avoid any financial losses for our financing partners, and to ensure that the defined target risk profile is kept. Further, the role will act as main counterpart for external partners to evaluate and structure innovative financing solutions for our suppliers, supporting them to grow sustainably together with us without being limited in terms of access to appropriate funding sources. The ideal candidate has comprehensive experience in structuring alternative financing solutions, has managed financing portfolios on his own, and will excel in executive-level interactions and consultations.

What You'll Do

Manage the Supplier Financing portfolio

  • Manage Wayfair’s supplier financing portfolio on an ongoing basis
  • Perform scenario analysis, simulations and stress testing to quantify credit risk
  • Support operations related to onboarding of new suppliers
  • Closely align with account managers on performance monitoring

Structure Financial Products

  • Drive discussions with external partners (traditional lenders as well as alternative lenders) to evaluate and structure innovative financing solutions for our suppliers
  • Primary responsibility for due diligence and sheet negotiations as well as coordination of internal stakeholders

Drive Product Implementation

  • Act as main business counterpart for the internal tech team regarding the implementation of our financing offering in our supplier portal

What You'll Need

Financing / Portfolio Management experience

  • Comprehensive experience in structuring alternative financial products / financing SPVs and/or management of loan portfolios (7+ years)
  • Comprehensive understanding of regulatory/legal requirements and credit/operational risks related to Corporate lending and supply chain financing activities
  • Highly analytical background and desire for quantitative analysis
  • Superb attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and deliver in a fast-paced environment
  • Prior experience in investment banking / private equity / venture capital / fintech environment helpful

Management and further skills

  • Facility with executive-level consultations. This requires demonstrated skills in fact-based analysis, clear communication, interpersonal interaction and project management.
  • Expertise in quantitative analysis and presentation. Proficiency with Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees and executive management (internal and external)
  • Ability to manage, train and mentor junior team members within Supplier Financing and other parts of the organization 
  • Senior presence coupled with strong interpersonal skills, with an emphasis on teamwork, initiative and integrity
